how you set it up matters
I read positive and negative reviews before buying. I hung it up so the rope connection on top of the ball was out of my dog's reach, and made sure it wouldn't touch anything as it swung, so it can't be pinned for biting down. Only complaint I have is it doesn't hold air, slow leak at valve, and have to inflate at least daily. I think that can be easily fixed, like you would your kid's soccer ball valve. If it gets squishy, dog is able to grab it. Otherwise, for the money and the enjoyment I think its a good buy. It's in my basement, so only gets played with on days when weather is too inclement to play outside, so works for me.

Really fun but didn't last too long.
My dog loved this but he is a large shepherd and he did destroy it. It was fun while it lasted for sure.

the opposite of what they say it's for - DANGEROUS PRODUCT!!
My dog LOVES tetherball, so I bought him a regular set last Christmas, but he put a hole in it a couple weeks ago (so it lasted 10 months), so I went looking for a new one. I found this "made for dogs" model and got excited. They advertise the cover to be "virtually indestructible" and "a thicker outer layer which is near impossible for dogs to puncture"... well, I took my dog out to play with it and within 5 SECONDS, he had sunk his teeth into it. This is not just inconvenient, as it will surely rip apart in days, but it's DANGEROUS, because he's jumping and grabbing a swinging ball which is attached to a rope. He could literally break his neck. This was never an issue with the old tetherball until it popped - he could never sink his teeth into it. The soft padding is the worst idea - padding is good, but fabric over stuffing just turns a ball to be played with into a big squishy toy on a squishy rope.As for the other elements, the rope is thin and cotton-y, much lower quality than the much cheaper original set, and the "metal clip" is just a tiny aluminum 25 cent carabiner that's tied on with an overhand knot. Doesn't add a lot of value.

Great exercise, and pretty durable tether ball. Giving this 5 stars!!!! Check out the video!!!
The media could not be loaded. I'm giving this ball 5 stars since there's clearly NO ball that's indestructible. This one lasted right up to the 30 day mark and I returned it for a new one. Hoping they will continue to replace the ball within the 30 day period because my dog LOVES this. GREAT exercise.

Not completely dog proof
The media could not be loaded. He loves to play with it though, so I ordered another. This one lasted 20 days.

Long lasting if used properly
This ball can last a long while if used properly and under supervision. I have this hanging from a rafter in my basement so that the ball has clearance on all sides (while seining) and the ball hangs about head high for my dog.The two main avenues for destruction of the ball (if your dog can’t get their teeth into it):1) Being able to push the ball up against something allowing them to work their teeth in more. Traditional tetherball pills didn’t work for me as my Shepard would push the ball into the rope so his teeth could get purchase on the ball allowing him to take chunks out.2) Grabbing the rope with teeth and riding it down to the ball. There is an unprotected hole where the rope meets the ball and dogs can work their teeth into that hole to try and tear the ball. It’s best to have a stop word to have your dog disengage with the ball and then releases them to play again after they let the rope go.This ball has lasted me a month and he uses it about 25 min a day every morning before breakfast. The key is to never let them use it unsupervised and have a stop word in the event they start getting their teeth into it.I do wish the ball was a little bit bigger but this is working out just fine.
