Liquitex Professional Gesso Surface Prep Medium, 3.78L (128-oz), Super Heavy

I use it on heavy duck (canvas, not a Mallard) to prep fro all sorts of paints.A few coats with a taping knife and sanding and it's smooth as glass for airbrushing or egg tempera.A few coats without sanding and it's a great surface for oils or acrylics.Pricey, but it goes a long way.

I’ve not used the super heavy gesso before but I think it’s going to be my new favorite. I was able to get a really nice smooth surface on my canvas. Also held texture really well on other canvases. Very happy with this- had to YouTube on how to open it though. Using exacto knife to remove tabs worked well

I'm sure of the quality of the product. The packaging for shipping from Amazon was done incompetently. Maybe some bubble wrap and some tape on the lid would be a good start, a fragile sign so the courier would know how to be careful with the contents. I would recommend the product but maybe find a seller that cares that you receive your products in good order. Abysmal.

Fantastic gesso, makes priming a canvas really easy. great price. will be buying more
