Tetra Whisper Air Pump with Minimal Noise and Maximum Air Flow

This air pump is a super one. It is very quiet, yet has very good output. I have each of the 2 air outlet split to supply a total of 4 air stones. It produces a really wonderful flow of bubbles. Its raised design allows air to flow below the pump and keep it cool. This not only extends the life of the pump, but also prevents the pump from heating the air excessively, which can raise the tank's water temperature during hot summer weather. One thing I noticed after a few weeks of operations was that the rubber feet on the end of the support legs were beginning to rub off and leave a black residue on the tabletop next to my tank where the pump was sitting atop. I had an extra mouse pad from my computer that I wasn't using, so I stuck it under the pump to make sure the tabletop wasn't damaged. While the pump was very quite before, after I put the pad beneath it, I cannot hear it at all. I don't have great hearing, but another brand of pump I was using before was made an humming sound that could be very annoying when reading. The other brand also had significantly less air output after 3 months and died completely after 6 months. This Tetra pump is working good as new after 6 months.I like it so much, I have bought a second one to use with some breeding / fry tanks I am setting up.

The product provides huge air flow, includes valves and T's to use for multiple air items. The unit has enough umph to provide air pressure for many items. The unit is not as silent as smaller units I have used, and not as quiet as even the canister fluval 350 canister filter, so it is the noisiest item I am running, so "whisper" is a bit of a misnomer. The unit is undetectable under normal household conditions, and I keep mine in the tank cabinet, so making it even less detectable, but if you listen for it you could hear it. For an aeration unit for a tank of this size and for the money, this is an awesome purchase. I did notice is the unit is stood on back two legs and not all four, the noise is lessened. Also, placing on a solid surface, since the vibrating diaphragm within the unit will cause items in contact with the unit to vibrate, thereby resulting in additional noise. So, would I recommend this product, most definitely. But as a marketer the nomenclature of "whisper" is a bit misleading.

I ordered the item with super saver shipping a few days before leaving for vacation. The package arrived the day I left for vacation. What a pleasant surprise! Anyway, I was able to open and test it before I left and it worked marvelously. I couldn't be more pleased with the product or the shipping, especially since I was initially a little shaky on the other reviews about it being loud. I found that it is somewhat loud if you are only using one of the outlets. If you have something in both outlets, the thing is more quiet than any filter I have heard (not including canister filters) and the bubbles that your air feature makes will probably be louder than this pump. Long story short: great buy, not loud unless you are only running one line (you should probably just get a smaller pump in that case anyway) and extraordinarily fast shipping.

Compared to Tetra Whisper ( the blue one) this pump is a bit loud if used in an apartment. I love the fact that it comes with two air outlets, it is powerful, great price and 2 check valves are also included. However , it is the loudest pump I have in my home at the moment. I will keep it as a backup and get the blue one.

I wasn't sure it was running until I looked at the massive amount of bubbles. Great product, excellent price.

Good product in keeping my fish healthy for lots of years, must have if you want to have your fish for a long time and have them healthy.

We ordered this air pump as a backup but ended up using it as another resource for oxygen for our 60 gallon tank. I had to check twice to assure it was pumping as it is very quiet. The air stone is bubbling away but I was used to a vibration from the pump. I do recommend the little air pump. Surprise, yes it's on!

Best Air Pump on the market when it comes to Tetra Whisper..I love purchasing Tetra products and I must say I didn’t go wrong with my purchase. This Air pump works great and I had it for a couple of months now! The noise level is great and the quality is great, meaning it’s very powerful! I’m using this with my 55 gallon aquarium air filters. I have two filters attached to this air pump and I have no complaints on how well it works. If you’re looking for a air filter, this would be a good buy for your bucks. Not expensive at all and works perfect!
