For me, nothing is worse than rubber grips on a pistol. They do nothing but snag on cover garments or in pockets. When I was shopping around for replacement grips for my S&W 642, I was drawn to these mainly because of their appearance in addition to the no-snag nature of wood. They're polished and sophisticated looking, but also have great stippling built into the pattern that aids in grip retention.It retains the two-finger grip, which keeps it compact and concealable; all the features that you purchased your J-frame for in the first place.Most importantly, this grip set is dimensionally indiscernible from the stock grips, meaning it doesn't interfere with any of the functions of the revolver like cylinder release or use of speed strips/loaders. Would definitely purchase this again for another revolver. I haven't observed any cracking or breaking. Sweat and skin oils haven't seemed to have an affect on the finish or the wood.

Replaced the old gummy rubberized grip on my S&W with this wood grip. It arrived fast and I installed it in 2 minutes. Perfect fit and it looks great. Nice quality craftsmanship. Recommended.

Beautiful grips but a little work was required to get a good fit. To get proper fitment it was necessary to grind down the centering roll pin in the frame of my pistol as the holes in the wooden grip halves were not deep enough to accomodate the stock pin. I did not use the supplied alignment pins, having a little play in their perspective holes, they would rattle just enough to irritate. Once I got the grips flush with the frame there was a small gap between the two grip halves where they should meet flush behind the trigger guard. I clamped the gapped portion of the installed grips in a rubber jawed vice overnight and it adequately reduced the offending space. These are beautiful grips that look great on my Airweight. I offer this information as constructive criticism for the manufacturer and as an FYI for any gun owner interested.

I didn't like the rubber grips on my S&W 642, I wanted something a little more smoother to prevent any fumbling. These look great, and the fit on the pair I received was perfect. Sort of "upscales" the look as well. Zero complaints for now.

I've always been a revolvers need wood grips and leather holsters type of guy. My 642 needed Jazzing up. These grips fit the bill. Nice fit, classy look and feels great in the hand. Same size as the stock rubber grips so it felt great in the pocket holster. This is my BUG and I just wanted it to be personalized. Very nice grips.

I have bought three sets of grips from Altamont and am very pleased with the quality and work that is put in their grips .

Easy install and even with a bigger hand, fits well in the hand.

I ordered the lite colored wood grips.I received dark brown, ugly grips. It says it may not be the color shown, but it should at least be close.
