Why is this so expensive compared to other retailers ?

Are the item for sale truly identical? Some may be refurbished, customer returns, supplied via an "unofficial" route without guarantee, even counterfeit. And sellers can ask what they like, it's simply an invitation to buy. If you see it cheaper and are happy to buy from that source, why worry about higher prices elsewhere?

Was is made in Germany?

Hi, Yes ours was made in Germany and the one you will buy will be too. We are very pleased with it, but think we may have paid £100 too much. Look at other offerings elsewhere, just to be sure. Great device.

Does it come with 2 batteries?

no it comes with the following: 1 x AS 2 Lithium-Ion, 28 Wh, 10.8 V battery 1 x AL 1 standard charger 1 x 10 cm Light guide bar 1 x 10 cm 1/4″ PM3 saw chain 1 x Multioil Bio, 50 ml 1 x black / orange carry bag with eyelets for wall-mounting as you can see 'AS2' is the model number of the battery and not the quantity

The instruction manual is unbelievably complicated. Do you have to master all of it to safely use the saw?

No.1 follow the safety instructions. No.2 the other thing that is critical is the tensioning of the saw chain and keeping it oiled. The diagrams show how much slack is required, but you need three hands or a work bench to do it easily. Run a few drops of oil down each side of the chain when tensioned. No.3 keep an eye on the battery life indicators and recharge or replace before it drops dead. No.4 be careful not to get the chain clogged up, otherwise it is back to No.2 to clear it out. It is a really wonderful tool.
