This is the Real Deal
You will appreciate the taste of this Ovaltine if you grew up in Europe or Africa. It is totally different from the type available at Walmart. Please understand that there's another so-called European version that comes in glass jar. I have Purchased and discarded it. It doesn't taste anything like real Ovaltine. If you like Ovaltine purchase the version under review.

Close enough to childhood ...
Ok, the 5th star is missing for something the vendor and the product or even Amazon can't really solve, but I must punish someone so this product it is. Basically -- Ovaltine has changed over the years.THIS version says, on the side, that it is manufactured in Switzerland for Ovaltine UK. That's the closest we're gonna get, guys. It is 20 years later, the formulas are changing because these companies are trying to survive with the new generation. So, that being said -- the FLAVOR on this is not quite the same. Just not as malty. Nor as chocolatey. I realize when I was a kid growing up in Singapore that I was eating something I didn't know the label content of, and I'm an adult and things taste different when you're an adult. That version was imported from elsewhere, probably Europe, because I distinctly remember picking up cartons of milk imported fresh from France on the shelves. That was then, this is now. Sense memories are always stronger and if you eat that apple pie you had at 10 (the 5th pie you'd ever had in life) at your favorite family restaurant, now when you go back, that apple pie ... may not be the same for various reasons. Your tastebuds. And it's not your first apple pie. And the restaurant owner is different. And they've probably changed the recipe. All that being said, this is close enough. I have added in a spurt of chocolate stevia to make it more chocolatey, although that makes it sweeter than I'd like. You could also just add a bit of chocolate cocoa if you have some on hand. The malty part, we can't recreate -- adding in more malted milk makes it more creamy than I remember, and we always made this with water. Its taste, to me before, used to be more "vitaminey, malty, and chocolatey with very little sweetness." You had to add in your own sugar. This tastes way creamier, blander, and sweeter and is missing the first three things in the above list.YMMV. Being here in America, I'm glad to get my hands on something close. But I'm not gonna lie and say I still don't miss the old flavor, even as I drink this.
