Tips For First Time Users
I purchased this product because I am an adult with braces (again) and it is much harder to clean around the brackets than I remember it being when I was in high school. Enter the Waterpik, after reading reviews I decided this was a worthwhile investment even after I get my braces off. After using this machine I am thrilled with how healthy and clean my gums feel, it is so much easier than flossing and in my opinion the results are far better. That being said there is some trial and error to using this, here are a few tips that I feel would have been helpful for me right off the bat.-adding a splash of mouthwash to the water makes a huge difference-do not use super cold water, I thought that would be refreshing to use cold water vs warm but it ended up just being painful because it was so cold-when using the product keep your mouth pointed straight at the sink, you will still have a ton of water running out of your mouth but at least it will fall directly into the sink and not down the front of you and down your arm.-Do not take the unit out of your mouth while it is on or you will have water everywhere, I know this sounds like an obvious tip but it is surprisingly difficult to focus on not moving the stream of water out of your mouth when you go from top teeth to bottom.Overall I am super happy with the purchase, the unit looks super sleek and modern on my counter and doesn't take up a ton of space. My boyfriend teased me for buying it and now he uses it every night because it makes his mouth feel so clean and he doesn't even have braces. I highly recommend!

Effective Product with Great Customer Service
I purchased the Waterpik Aquarius Professional Water Flosser in January 2018 after my dentist recommended it. I waited until July to provide a review, because I wanted to wait until I had a follow-up visit with my dentist. When they made the recommendation, they informed me that I was beginning to get some plaque buildup, which might require a deep cleaning. They suggested that I try the Waterpik for six months and come back for a follow-up appointment. I just had the visit, and there was a marked improvement, and no need for deep cleaning. I have used the device daily for the last six months, and now feel confident that it really does help improve your oral health. It is also (for me, at least) very pleasant to use. While it is noisy, my teeth feel that kind of clean after visiting the dental hygienist after every use. I further recommend the product because of the great customer care from Waterpik. The reservoir on my device recently started leaking. I first went to the Amazon site to see if I could buy a replacement, and it isn't offered. I then went to the Waterpik site, and they don't offer replacement tanks for this model either, so I started an online chat with them. They asked a few simple questions, and then offered to send an entire new unit to me at no cost. Really great customer service was instant, and they clearly support their products aftermarket. Following is the link to the model I bought: Waterpik Aquarius Professional Water Flosser Designer Series, White, WP-670

Great product results in great dental results.
Super easy to use, helps promote good gum health, quality product, appears to be durable. You can adjust water pressure with the dial. I consider it a great value for money compared to big box store. Got compliments from my dentist after using it.

Loud and messy appliance that does clean between the teeth.
COMMENT: one of the star ratings categories requested for this device is "Thickness." Not sure how that's a factor, but let's just give the device 4-stars in this category for grits and shins.PROs: comes with several different nozzles but no directions so first-time Waterpik users have no basis to start from. I just grabbed one and started using it. If you care about the details, I'm sure the website has more information. The unit works easily and intuitively with a single on-off button on the base and a flow start-stop slider switch on the handle which is attached to the base by a thin coiled tube. The handle also has a nozzle release slider needed for that purpose. Inserting a nozzle is even easier: just push it into the handle until it clicks. The base has storage for two nozzles, plus whatever you have or not in the handle. The water container on the base unit is clear plastic, pulls up and out easily, and you fill it with whatever temperature water you want injected into your mouth.CON#1: very loud, not something you'd want to use in the middle of the night while your partner or pet is trying to sleep. With the unit on, if you stop the water flow the noise gets even louder as the pump continues to work to push water through the hose, handle, and nozzle. Deafening? Hardly. The loudest thing you'll likely ever have in your bathroom? Yes, with the possible exception of some hair dryers on highest speed. Or the hammer drill I once used on a bathroom project.CON#2: pretty messy. When you turn on the unit and the flow, you'll get a spurt for quite a distance. Even pointing into the sink the stream will likely splash all over. Be sure to have this in your mouth while the flow is on.CON#3: even messier than you think. If you "waterpik" (verb?) your teeth with your mouth open, the liquid will run outof your mouth hopefully into the sink. At least that's the plan. More likely you'll get it all over your chin and on whatever is under your chin at the time...like your shirt, the sink, the floor, the dog, whatev. If you "waterpik" your teeth with your mouth closed as I quickly learned to do, your mouth will fill with water after squirting about one fourth of your teeth. Then you turn the flow off, spit into the sink, do some more teeth, spit, rinse and repeat. The "turn the flow off" part is when the pump struggles to push water but cannot so makes even more noise than before.CON#4: more messy yet. When you're done you would typically stop the flow with the handle switch, then turn off the unit with the button on the base. If you then turn on the flow, or the next person using the device does, the built-up pressure will shoot out a short-lasting stream that is actually quite impressive, and in whatever direction you are pointing the nozzle at the time. That will likely be your dress clothing or into your eye...just works out that way.On balance, the device does appear to clean well at the gumline and between my teeth...and getting one of these was a recommendation of my dentist's hygienist. We'll see if there's any difference at my next checkup. Perhaps if you have ear buds your could play some nice quiet heavy metal to both wake you up and drown out the Waterpik. Or if budget allows, try some noise-cancelling ear buds to really test out that feature. One caution: it would be nice to be able to clean your teeth with this device while in the shower. Noise is somewhat drowned out (get it? get it?), and you really don't care about the messiness. But this is an ungrounded 120v electrical appliance with a fairly short cord so there would be issues about mixing water and electricity that might put one in serious contention for a Darwin award. Definitely not recommended.
