Outstanding value
What is it not - it isn't a Setcom or a Shark - which in my case is a good thing, since neither of those companies makes an interface for my radio (Wouxun KG-UV6X). What it is - an inexpensive, remarkably compact, well-thought-out harness to connect a portable radio to a motorcycle rider. They even realized that the lead to one of the helmet speakers should be longer than the other, because one speaker would be in the proximity of the mic, and the other would be separated by the width of the users head. The wires are remarkably small, and all the junctions tightly molded - the harness simply disappears underneath an armored motorcycle jacket. There are mounting options - I used it today with the PTT assembly Velcro'd to the finger of my kangaroo-skin carbon-fiber- and aramid-armored glove, just because I was dying to try it. Yes, I had to speak up (the foam wind screen on the mic attenuates more than just wind noise), and I had to boost the volume on the portable as well (two speakers, not just one, and they're set into the shell of the helmet, almost an inch away from your ears - there's no way to eliminate wind noise inside the helmet, so you just have to drown it out). My last Setcom set me back over 21 times as much as this did, and lasted about 7 years (with occasional resoldering of internal connections) - so after 4 months or so this harness will have paid for itself. Yes, I've ordered three more - one for my other 3/4 helmet, one as a spare and one to "lend around" - and I'll update the review as the system "ages". A cautionary note, though; it appears that only the speakers are furnished with the 3M VHB adhesive - while the mic boom is at present quite firmly affixed to the helmet, I can't be certain how long that'll last. I keep a supply of the VHB tape around in 1" and 2" widths just because I replace helmets frequently (every other year), so a replacement of the adhesive patch on the mic boom will be quick and painless.

Works
The product functions as should no issue there. The connectors could use an improvement. The jack is a nice molded piece.

Acceptable If You Use the Expensive Radios
We used these in our helmets for an outdoor endurance go kart race. We had a set of inexpensive Chinese radios and a pair of the expensive ones. The headset & microphone were worthless with the cheap radios. With the expensive radios they worked OK.The ear pieces take up a bit of space in the helmet, maybe 2-3 mm? But were acceptable.

It works
I've used this in my helmet while riding off road on a quad. It performs well in the dusty, hot environment. Folks on the receiving end say it sound OK. Definitely worth $30. The earpiece speakers stay mounted in the helmet well. I was worried they wouldn't when exposed to extended off road riding in the heat of summer.

Its cheap and it works
Way cheaper than the rugged radio setup. I wish it had better connections, so if you come off your bike it unplugs. For the price buy a few. You will need the parts.
