Great little Freeview recorder at a great price.
Gets the standard and HD freeview channels in good quality. No wifi (ethernet only) but does everything I need. Easy to set up and use. Recommended.

Same old problems
I have rented these items from BT and they have been replaced on 4 occasions when they do a software update.Thought Id stop renting my BT pro box and purchase one of these as I just wanted to record the odd programme.Box wouldn't record at first and wouldn't start up in the mornings unless I re booted it by turning the mains off and back on. Same old issues I had prior to the pro box so wouldn't waste any money on one of these.

Excellent comms and very happy
Very pleased so far. Our experience of set top boxes (Humax / BT) is that they seem to have very limited life-span. We are not tv addicts but none of these boxes has ever managed to last past 3 years before either getting the dreaded hard disk click or power supply failure. As there seems to be fewer and fewer recordable set top boxes available and Manhattan's latest box having it's release date put back again, we decided to order a refurbished BT Ultra HD YouView Box. Within 24-hours of placing the order, the seller contacted us directly to tell us that they were actually sending the newer BT Pro 4K box with 1Tb of storage and ability to record 4x programs simultaneously. We were really impressed by the seller with both their comms and their service. It is quite an upgrade for the same price and a quick check shows that the Pro box is made by Sagecomm rather than Humax, so fingers crossed that it lasts longer. After a very quick delivery, the only used looking part was the outer cardboard box. Both the unit and remote look as-new. HDMI and an ethernet cable were also included, a nice touch for those who may not already have them.Very east and familiar set up for the box and once tuned, the recordings are nice and sharp. Not sure we will ever need to record 4 programs at once but hey, if it should ever happen we're covered. The only minor quibble for us would be the design for the remote control. There are no 'stop' or 'delete' buttons. You have to pause playback and then escape out using the 'back' key. Deleting programs is done by pressing the 'record' button on the remote. It just feels clunky but others may prefer it.Here's to updating the review in several years time to say it is still going strong

Good alternative to subscribing to TV services but NOT Wi-Fi
I recently bought this item for my octagenarian Mum to replace her existing TV box, which is on a contract and the price just keeps soaring. She only watches Freeview but likes to record programs so was reluctant to change.I had used a similar box when I used to subscribe to BT television, so it was familiar to me and performed as expected. The one major problem I had was that the reason I bought this particular box was the it said in the description that it works over the wi-fi. It doesn't. to get this to work, I had to fork out for a wi-fi range extender with an ethernet port. This issue is why I'm only giving this item 3 stars. Otherwise I would have given it 5 as it does what it says on the tin.
