Peace of mind
My husband ordered this monitor after our baby was born when we started considering transitioning her from a bassinet in our room to her crib in her room. I was extremely skeptical about it actually detecting something as subtle as a baby's breathing but we went ahead and installed it as a backup to our video monitor. we used it for a couple of weeks and then found that the audio stopped working but the sensor that beeps when there is no movement continued to work. I called customer service and they were extremely helpful and sent the replacement quickly which worked perfectly. A couple of weeks later baby fought the swaddle so we put her in the crib without the swaddle. As expected she woke up several times during the night and at around 4 am we heard the beeping of no movement. My husband ran into the nursery and found that she had wiggled all the way to the side of the crib, off the sensor. We never forgot to turn it on after that, and we miss it when we go visit family.Even though it isn't a necessity, I recommend this to friends just for the peace of mind. The only complaint my husband has is that he wishes it came with a remote control to turn the beeping off when he forgets to switch the monitor off in the mornings and has already made it down the stairs with the baby.

Great product, not as good as other models
The angelcare has been absolutely great for us. We definitely sleep better knowing it is working for us. We have this mounted in a pack and play with a bassinet feature, and simply put a piece of 1/4" underlayment to give the sensor a flat surface. I tested the setup in a number of ways and though it works fine at the default setting, I changed the sensitivity to as low as possible so it would pick up the baby but not people walking around. Even still, it will pick up motion from walking around the pack and play. It has not had any false alarms, and has had one real alarm. We have owned the AC401 as well and liked it better, but it was more than twice the price and more complicated.Pros- Easy setup and tuning.- Remote unit is easy and uncomplicated- Remote and crib unit come with rechargeable batteries and the handheld comes with a cradle for charging- Provides peace of mindCons- Pushing the wing switch all the way up (which is easier to do than the middle position) transmits an annoying beep to the handheld every time movement is detected. The beep is incredibly disruptive even at its lowest setting and I can't imagine anyone using this feature.- The audio output is very muddy compared to other monitor products I have used. It is very hard to distinguish baby noises from the white noise machine, a problem we did not have with other monitor products. We raised one child without the angelcare and one child with, and without a doubt I would recommend this product.

So glad we have this for some peace of mind
So glad we have this for some peace of mind. Our baby is a mover and a ahaker when awake, but holds so still when she sleeps we wonder if she is still breathing. When she rests, we put her in the bassinet with the angelcare on, and bring the remote around the house with us so stuff gets done.We know this thing works, because we forget to turn it off when we take her out to change her, the alarm sounds right away. Not *loud enough to stir our baby or wake her, but loud enough to get our attention. If I'm upstairs taking her out for a fresh diaper, amd my husband is downstairs, he hears the alarm, comes bolting upstairs, only to find her in my arms.*In my honest opinion, this could be louder, but according to my step mother (who is more sensative) its a huge racket. Then again, our little budgie birds are too loud for her too. Depends on your semse of hearing. Personally, I love the volume, because we can hear it anywhere in the house. While at the same time, it doesn't set off our baby into screaming mode.

ANGEL CARE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRIBLE!!
After 8 months of using our monitor the parent monitor stop working. After contacting the Angel care company they ask for proof of purchase and other information, they they said it was still under warranty. After waiting a week they sent me the wrong monitor and it will not connect with my original system. I've called them 20 times left message and sent emails and no one will get back to me. I have a 8 month old with no working monitor. It's super frustrating! Now I'm going to have to spend more money to buy a new one!

Get that strobe light discotheque feeling in your bedroom!
Great peace of mind! Super annoying bright flashing lights though. Like trying to sleep at the end of an airplane runway. Other than that I love it.

Mehh.
The monitor itself is great! My husband and I can even hear our daughters tiny dreaming noises over it. The reason I won't give this more than 3 stars is because the pressure pad is extremely faulty. I did exactly what all the instructions stated for set up, including the wooden board under the sensor and it would not register my 3 month old in the crib until it was up to the highest sensitivity. Sometimes I will forget to shut off her monitor and it continues to flash as if she is still in the crib, yet the crib is completely empty. The other night she was having a rough time sleeping so I put her in the co-sleeper in mine and my husbands bed and the monitor didn't even sound off until 5 hours later... We are hoping this will change as she gets bigger and we can adjust the sensitivity.

I have only good things to say about this monitor
I have only good things to say about this monitor. It has worked great for both of my kids (once you get the sensitivity set just right). It gives me piece of mind and I am actually able to relax and go to sleep.
