It's humane and it works well
I bought this nearly 18 months ago when a distinctive wee mouse with a ragged ear took to running under the floorboards to follow me around the house, ignoring all the electronic deterrents. Where ever I was he popped up staring at me, it was quite disconcerting. I caught him within 24 hours and the next day caught his wee friend. This year I've caught one a day for the last 4 days I've deployed it, all unharmed, all released into the fields far away from my house. I don't begrudge them life, just not at the expense of my woodwork and they were super noisy at night. So, the trap has lasted well, its a bit fiddly initially to set it to trigger to go off at the very light weight of a mouse but I persevered an hour or so to get it right. You have to bending the wee loop and wire a little so the trigger is only just caught in it so the tiniest pressure on the platform inside sets it off.The hook the cheese goes onto is discoloured now from use but there is no damage to the trap at all.As the trap is so big there is also no chance of them trapping their tail when it slams shut (one of the main selling points for me) and most just end up sitting there, scoffing the cheese, bemoaning their loss of freedom till I release them into the great outdoors.I admit I think I over estimated the size of trap I'd need but heck, if I ever get rats it'll work for them too I guess.I like it so much I bought a second one yesterday so I can place them in two spots I've caught mice before. That said I've now also wire meshed all the airbricks into the house so hopefully it's just a precaution.Recommend the trap, it's a good buy for the money and it lasts. I think I paid around 18 to 20 quid for each.

works, bit rough but ready
ok, the quality could be better, some sharpish edges that i used pliers to bend to better, but it’s easy to set up and set and caught one of our roland rat pals night one, second night two. baited with nuts and both critters able to be released to wild area far away from home easily.

Worked!
Caught the feller the next day and held up. Don't tip it when they're inside, the lock works on gravity.

Well made, easy to (re)set.
I normally only ever seen two rats that visit our garden in deepest Winter when they come to raid the bird food, and the infrequency of their visit hasn't bothered me. However, in the last few months there were a some bold new rat visitors we didn't recognise, who were jumping about in the garden like they owned the place. So I bought this humane rat trap with the idea of catching them and releasing them over the fields away from my property. I set the trap and waited... And haven't seen a rat since. I know rats are normally neophobic, so the presence of the trap takes a bit of getting used to, and I had no expectations that they would rush into it, but despite not actually catching a rat yet, my garden has been visibly rat free now for weeks. So the trap hasn't caught anything, but it's mere presence on the run they were taking to get into my garden seems to have solved the problem (or some neighborhood cat has caught on to the new nest). The trap is well build, springs firmly, and easy to reset (when I actually set it off by kicking it). It's placed conspicuously where I can see it (because I don't want the little critters to get trapped and starve) but it isn't offensive looking in a garden environment. Seems to have solved my problem in an unexpected way.

Useless against rats but might be good for smaller rodents
I had a friendly rat that lived behind my oven and came out once in a while to finish anything my cat had left behind in her bowl. Whilst I don't dislike rats, he wasn't paying rent, so he had to go. I used some rat food that rats are supposed to go nuts for and placed this trap in the kitchen. Unfortunately ratty wasn't having any of it. Rats are smart and this was so obviously a trap that he avoided it like the plague. It wasn't a complete waste though. A couple of months later my cat brought a vole in and decided to release it in my bedroom just for kicks. I could hear him scurrying about one night, running back and forth between my drawers and bedside cabinet. I placed this trap down in his path with the same rat food from before and the idiot got himself trapped within 30 seconds. He kicked up a frightful fuss when he realised he was trapped but seemed grateful when I released him outside. I think the cat got him again a bit later.Ratty was never seen again. I think he took the hint that he wasn't welcome and moved out.

Good price and very effective
After laying this trap, due to a rat in the garden, using peanut butter for bait, it did a fantastic job of catching the same little field mouse several times. The field mouse was nesting close by but since this trap is humane I was able to release it safely and on the second day caught the rat successfully. I then took it to a very wild rural spot and released it safely. This trap is sturdy enough and very sensitive, which makes it easy to use and easy for anything to trigger. My advice would be to close this manually when you are unable to keep a closer eye on it e.g overnight to avoid catching something other than pests and causing distress to any critter.A fantastic way to solve a minor pest issue and a great price.

Flimsy and useless
Don’t waste your ( considerable amount of ) money. The bar that sets the pressure plate isn’t long enough and the whole thing is flimsy and not fit for purpose. If i could give it no stars , i would - but good old Amazon won’t let me .
