The manufacturer needs to include enough bolts to thoroughly fasten the bracket to the transom.The bracket has 12 usable holes, but only four bolts were supplied. I bought eight more bolts. My cost:$22. The manufacturer specifies use of a "backing plate" but none was described or supplied. Mytransom was inch and a half pine, and I created a backing plate from half inch thick oak. Using all12 holes on the bracket, this is now a sturdy mount. The device itself is well-made.

I used this bracket for a year; it was installed a year after purchase in 2020. It seemed to work ok. But... danger..... the knobs are not fitted with a lock nut or lack washer. On mine, the knob backed off and fell off with the washer, the bolt/rod came out and bent, and it slightly bent the aluminum on the bracket. When I called to order replacement parts I was told they had NO parts available. The did offer to discount a new bracket.....$225 plus $100 shipping..... doesn't sound like much of a deal when I can order from Amazon for $326 and free shipping. I'd steer clear of this product.

Overall the bracket is well built. The twist safety knobs are a week point as they can vibrate loose and fall off. I have replaced them with nylock nuts

Very poorly packaged by the manufacturer, there was a part missing, and the manufacturer hasn’t responded to my emails
