Discovery World Furniture Captain Bed with 6 Drawers (Full, Merlot)

Not sure what bed the previous reviewer got but my bed I received today was solid wood. There was no self taping , or scraps of wood 1 inch wide. It is a solid wood bed! Yes one side is open so it does have to go against a wall but I knew these already since I had researched this bed. I also knew that you can purchase drawers for the other side of the bed but since my bed was to be up against the wall I opted for just purchasing this bed as is. This bed was super easy to assemble. It took me 90 minutes to assemble in all and that includes the busting open of the boxes and arranging the pieces around my living room to make sure they all were there before I started the assembling. I am a 35 year old 120 lb female and I found this pretty simple to assemble. I had no problems with hinges on the door, like I said super easy. The bed comes with the book shelf already assembled and the drawers already assembled. You basically only have to put the frame together. The only tool I need was a screwdriver and then the tool the bed comes with. Over all this is a beautiful bed! Solid wood, beautiful stain, lots of storage space. My daughter loaded up the underneath of her bed with all her huge stuffed animal collection and then all her clothes fit in the drawers. I found the drawers to be a good size. I was expecting them to actually be smaller so I was happy to see they are of "normal" size. I have no problems with this bed. There was a small ding on one of the side boards and its noticeable but not in a huge way and not enough to send the bed back or complain. I was pleased with the delivery service , I was pleased with the quality of the bed, and I was pleased with the price! Amazon was the cheapest I found this bed!

Spent a lot of time looking for a bed for my teen daughter’s room. Her room is small so the storage is needed. We have tried a loft bed but being elevated it was too warm sleeping and also annoying for her to make her bed. Finally decided on this one because it was made of real wood and not MDF.Bed arrived in 5 clearly marked boxes telling you on the outside what was in each box. Red tape indicated which boxes held the instructions and hardware. Every piece that came with its own hardware also came with instructions for that piece. Instructions were clear to understand (think giant Lego set) with pictures indicating how to put section together. My husband suggests a large area to work in so as to be able to spread the pieces out.Cons: a few pieces weren’t labeled with numbers however you could figure out what they were. Some pieces did not have the pre-drilled holes however this didn’t pose a problem as the screws easily were able to be drilled through. Our color choice was ash and it does have a slight yellow undertone to it. Not terrible and still looks nice but def can see the yellowish but because of the material this could be painted if you wanted.Absolutely is real wood. Bed is very sturdy and solid. My daughter loves it and she is very picky. It looks really nice in her room and we are very happy with it.Total build time I would say about 4hrs which includes opening the boxes and laying out the pieces. My 13yo daughter built it with my husband so that slowed him down a little but they enjoyed doing it together.We are looking at another one for my son in a different design. As soon as it becomes available we plan on purchasing it.

Looks great, well built. My assembly time for a unit including 6 drawer storage unit was 7 hours total, having all the tools and knowing what I’m doing. Here’s some notes to help you assemble it:0. The storage unit screws are really hard to drive in. To make it easier, get yourself a screwdriver that takes bits and stick an Ellen wrench into it. This will give you enough leverage to make it faster and easier.1. Assemble the storage before the bed frame!2. At bed step 9, loosen the screws for all the right angle brackets screwed into piece 1, fit the pieces together, then retighten the bracket screws. It’ll take a bit to get the pieces to align.3. At bed step 10, the two screw holes must be drilled.4. At step 11, the two long unmarked pieces are the bed rails, piece 15.5. Need to drill to install slats and support bar.
