My Girl/My Girl 2

Great buy for 2 great movies. These made a big impact on me when I was younger and I hope to share them with my daughter one day.

I love it

The DVD case was smashed. The DVD itself was in perfect condition, so I kept it. My girl one is almost a classic. It's a great movie to put on when babysitting the kids, meaning it's a movie that passes the time and is enjoyable for all viewers. It's sweet and sad at the same time, touching on the reality of death of a child and also throws in the concept of a heaven, which is now rare and sneered upon by Hollyweird. Part two wasn't as good. I feel that they were in such a hurry to come up with a memorable sequel that they instead came up with a sequel that nobody remembers. It lacked a good storyline and left out characters from part one that could have been a great addition, even if just making a small appearance or cameo. Besides that, Anna Chumlusky was fresh in Part one. In part two, you can kind of tell that she was older and not as adorable.Four stars for part one and one star for part two, adding up to my five stars.

I absolutely LOVE this set. It is a family movie that will make you laugh, make you cry and make you want to hold onto your youth forever! Veda is a young girl who is quite the tomboy and loves to spend time with her best friend, Thomas Jay. Her house is a funeral home, her father is a man who is dedicated to the dead and not falling in love again. In comes a young, sassy divorced make up artist who steals his heart and steals away Veda's daddy, so she feels. In this movie, a very young girl comes to terms with life, death, jealousy, and love.In part two, Veda is a little older now and having to write an essay on someone who she never met that inspires her. She decides to learn about her mother, who died after giving birth to her. She is now going to be a big sister too! With much protest from her father, she flies to L.A to visit her Uncle and to learn about her mother. She falls for a boy for the first time, learns things about her mom that she never knew and learns alittle more about life. She comes home to a beautiful baby, and a whole new perspective on life. MUST SEE SET!!!

This is a great set of movies. The friendship of Veda and Thomas J.is the storyline behind my girl 1 She is the daughter of Dan Akroyd who plays a funeral director. Jamie Lee Curtis comes into the picture as a makeup artist.They soon become a couple.Veda and Thomas J are best friends. Spend alot of time together. One day he is stung by many many bees and tragically does not survive. Veda is lost without her best friend.She also has a crush of her teacher and deides to take an adult writing class, The other classmates sometimes make fun of the 11 year old who write her own style of poetry.During the movie Veda also thinks she is "dying" and visits the doctor all the time. She also becomes a "WOMAN: during the movies getting her first period.The little girl is growing up.My Girl 2 is minus Thomas J. but all the others are in the new movie. Veda decides to go and find about her mom, doing all the research and traveling She is successful in her journey.Back at home dan and jamie Lee are expecting their first child together.You really have to see the 2 movies in order to enjoy both.

How can you not fall in love with this story of childhood and coming of age? How can you not like names like "Veda Sultanfuss" and "Thomas J"? How can you not like such sure knowledge about getting married as: "When you get old, you just have to"? and lines like, "Veda, if you don't marry Mr. Bixler, would you think of me?"My Girl gives a gentle and not-too-sweet message about not only the loss of innocence but of friends as well. It is not heavy-handed in any way. It appeals to the viewer's heart without trying to force the issue and makes you laugh along the way, too. There is simple good humor here and a good ending.My Girl 2 takes up where the first movie leaves off, though it is a little hard to recapture the spirit of the original. This is still a very watchable and enjoyable movie, with some of the original humor and tenderness exhibited, as Veda searches for and finds someone who knew her deceased mother, whom she never knew, and her first teenaged love.Get this pair of movies, at a price you can't beat, and cry, laugh, and have fun!
