More Fantastic Rock from Beyond the Rising Sun!
If you liked the first volume of this series, you will LOVE this one even more. It contains some of the coolest (and trippiest) music from the land of the rising sun. Rock & Roll is filtered through another language and lots of Fuzz Guitar, some camp and (unbelievable) cultural (& linguistic) translations. 27 tracks of amazing music plus great documentation on the groups that made it too. Get both volumes and you won't be disappointed.

Outstanding!
I was trying to think of a way to to encourage others to get this. Listen to "Sandy' by the Carnabeats. The Japanese have this way of absorbing songs and spitting them out in a way you never expected. Kind of like the Beatles! Recommended by Julian Cope! (Teardrop Explodes)

great CD
I bought this largely as a novelty listen and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the recordnigns and especially the quality of the musicianship. those Japanese bans were not slouches on the guitar. IMHO The Cougars are the best! I would pay to see them in concert today!!!Some of the attempts to sing in English are funny and a few songs are outright bad...but only one or two songs. The more I listen to it the more the gap between the great, good and fair songs seem to diminish.I just purchased volume two!

Bonsai a-go-go!
This is a great CD ... I just bought it and I'm very satisfied with it! Authentic 1960s Japanese rock! Heavy guitars and banging drums! Comes with a thick booklet with brief history, photos and insight! 5 stars!

Interesting...
I bought this because--largely--I expected it to be over the top and psychotic. I was right. But it's also *surprisingly* good, although one gets the sense that there's certainly more interesting material out there that could've been tapped (this release comprises mostly Crown and Teichiku items, which is in itself limiting). What is included, however, it surprising both in its quality and wackiness; the bizarre cover of "Fire" is, well, strange, but it's also very good.

Very Impressive!
"GS I Love You" Japanese garage bands of the 60's I bought a couple've years ago. It's still one of my favourites. It's "beat" with a refreshing and energetic Japanese flavour. All 28 tracks hold a lot of replay value and no filler! A few of my favourites, "Fire" and Sam & Daves "Hold on I'm Comin" particularly shine for me. The tracks have a pretty even mix of Japanese and English. This is the first volume of 3 featuring GS "group sounds" and it doesn't stray too far away from western beat for you purists. I DON'T recommend volume 2 "GS I love you too". This first vol. is by far the better of the two. Volume 3 The Spiders "Lets go Spiders" is also very good and I recommend it highly! Thanks for reading!PLAY IT LOUD!
