I was really surprised by these. I hate incense rolled on punk sticks, because even if it isn't cheap, the sticks themselves just completely ruin the fragrance, often with large amounts of sooty smoke.But these are wonderful. They produce an intense sandalwood fragrance through the home. And what's really unusual is that if you smell the incense smoke coming directly off the stick, it smells a little harsh and grating... but as it disperses, it smells like crisp, clean, deep and heady pure sandalwood. And it doesn't produce a ton of dark smoke, the hallmark of a terrible incense product. It's gentle curls of pale smoke. Wonderful.

I am delighted I ordered this. If you are exploring Japanese or India's incense, you may be seeking the real deal? Oil soaked sticks are most often synthetic fakes not even close to the proper scents. If you think you know what sandalwood actually smells like this may smack you down. This is heavy sandalwood and will tune your Western nose to the actual scent. Try a little mixed with another favorite as a back ground. I had to burn partial sticks and move the holder room to room. The residual scent after burning a stick is very nice. Now I can actually spot real sandalwood in mixed incense.

I normally buy this brand of incense on my trips to India. It has the deepest, richest, most complex sandalwood scent of any incense I have tried and is the closest to incense I smell in the temples there. This year a broken ankle is keeping me home so I was thrilled to find this on Amazon.I was a little sad to realize this has the word "mild" on the package and is indeed milder than my other boxes. The other stuff is extremely strong and long lasting so this may be more to most people's tastes.

Stumbled on this glorious incense in Miami at a little shop. We bought all they had. We burned thru it in about 3 months. Then I couldn't find it anywhere. Finally it showed up on Amazon! My house smells delicious. I put one in my car to cover the smell of Big Macs. Every time I get in my car I feel so much better. It smells so good. Very strong so you only need to burn half a stick to get a full dose. It smells like expensive mens cologne. Divine!

the batch I received in 2020 smells primarily of stale ghee, and a mixture of oils- including some mediocre sandalwood oil which evaporates quickly. If I wanted sandalwood oils, the west has genuine sources; this is not that. the scent does not persist as with genuine sandalwood; I find no evidence of the wood itself in this product
