works well
Had in our pool 2 month now. Seems to work well at deterring any little children from playing in the pool when an adult is not around. When they do play or set the alarm off, wow its loud! It can be sensitive to wind but that’s ok we just take it out on windy days. It works a lot better that I had thought. Just remember to keep the key to shut off the alarm handy.

False description
This product does not match the working description. It will go off with the slightest breeze. We watched it go off while the water was calm. This means it goes off constantly during the day and if you are not home it will continue till you get home. It went off in the middle of the night though there was no breeze or rain. I would not recommend this item. They charge you the shipping fee to return it. This means you lose out on the item that is falsely advertised and have to pay them to take it back.

Should have an off button
This is a very good product. It is loud and clear. Thank goodness we have only had demonstrations of its ability. I do however wish there was an off button. Sometimes it takes a bit longer than I would like to stop the alarm.

To sensitive
Bought this to be able to pass Inspection for pool permit but cant really use it on a regular basis. Just to sensitive. Wind alone will set it off. If i left it on all night I'd probably have to get up 4-5 times a nite or more to shut off..would be better if there was a way to set sensitivity....

saftey is our first priority
This is a bit more costly but its so cute and loud.and really impossible to put a price on a childs life. ..wow really loud and so simple to install. Floats on the water and that even alerts animals not to enter...the best part is the speakers one is on the boui and the other plugs in to your home you will hear it over anything..not as crazy sensative as other allarms that go off because of the wind and the causion cone is a universal symbol...everyone knows even kids know that cones mean causion

I'm sure it works
So purchased this because pur County insisted in one for Inspection. All said and done never asked for it and now stuck with it never opened. But I'm sure it's a awonderdul item. Just don't need as we are retired and too old to drown lol

Wind sets of off
Currently we can't use this. On the first day the wind set it off so many times we had to unplug the indoor receiver and put the alarm on the stand. We live in Oklahoma so if the wind sets it off we are in trouble. Piece of junk, unless we can figure out a way to stabilize it more so the wind won't set it off. And to top it off I can't send it back because it's 3 days after the return window. Ordered it early so we would have it when we opened the pool.

Works for the most part but ...
I'll start off with the things I liked about the Poolguard:I really like the wireless alarm set up. The "cone" is an alarm but it also has another alarm that you place indoors. Great feature and it seems to work flawlessly. I've had zero false alarms on the wireless...The alarms are loud enough to certainly grab your attention. Now for the bad and the basis for the two star rating...The "cone" is pretty cheaply made. It is made of lightweight plastic which in and of itself isn't necessarily a bad thing if lightweight is your thing. The instructions specifically state that you must place the alarm on its wire stand when it is out of the pool. Okay. The stand could be made out of a wire coat hanger that has been painted red, very lightweight & flimsy. The stand keeps the "cone" upright and the sensor suspended so the alarm isn't triggered when not in use. It also keeps what little weight the cone actually has from torquing the sensor tube hanging beneath the float. We had a light gust of wind blow the entire cone & stand assembly off of a patio table causing the sensor tube to snap clean off below the float. The sensor tube is so light weight that any side loading will break it completely off... A McDonalds straw would be stronger. I ended up getting creative with some epoxy to reattach & reseal the broken part. Fortunately the sensor is a very basic magnetic trigger system so the alarm still works as intended. The second & probably more annoying issue is that the alarm is very difficult to turn off once triggered & there appears to be no way of completely disabling it if desired other than taking it apart and pulling the battery...The alarm is disabled by a magnetic key that you are supposed to place at a target point on the front of the cone (that little dot at the bottom of the cone in the product pic). When it works it is great. The alarm goes off, you take the magnetic key and touch that dot and the alarm shuts off immediately... about 15% of the time... The other 85% of the time you are holding the magnetic key on the dot, alarm shrieking both outdoors and indoors, and nothing happens. You move the magnetic key around trying to find the "sweet spot", nothing happens... so frustrating. Eventually you'll get it just right and the thing finally shuts off. If you cannot get it just right you will have to take it apart and pull that battery... Oh, and the alarm goes off when you pull it out of the water, when you put it in the water, when you bump it when placing it on the stand and when the wind blows it off the table and the sensor tube breaks off... I have yet to have an infant climb the ladder & fall in, nor has the cat decided to take the plunge or a neighborhood kid hop the wall and take an unauthorized dip so test alarms & false alarms are all I have to go on... So far, all of my other safety precautions have worked according to plan...Back to being serious...Overall, as a safety device, this alarm works as intended. Because pool safety is a priority I will continue to use this and I would even recommend it to a friend with a few caveats & warnings... This is a mousetrap. For the high price, even on sale, it is a mousetrap that is begging to be made better...
