I’ve had zero prior experience with epilation, and found this device not only simple and easy to use, but effective at doing what it’s supposed to. I’m so glad I bought it. I was curious about epilating, since I was tired of having to buy replacement razor heads for my disposables, and the frequency with which I had to shave — not to mention occasional razor burn, and nicks and cuts. This device does the job efficiently, and it’s clear that components were designed with newbies in mind.The kit comes with a lot of pieces, so I spent time familiarizing myself with the attachments and how everything fits together. I was surprised at how easy it is to simply pop different heads on and off. While charging the epilator, I read through the instructions. I used the exfoliating brushes and flexible massage pad first over all the areas I wanted to remove hair: my legs, underarms, and bikini area. After this, I hopped in the shower since that’s supposed to reduce pain for first-time use. There are also two epilation heads for the body: a head with little rollers that’s good for newbies and making first-time epilation as comfortable as it can be, and a closer skin contact head for efficient removal of hair on sensitive areas and those more comfortable or experienced with epilation.I started with the first head on my legs. I was surprised by the sensation at first; there’s a prickly feeling, especially around the ankles and the bony part of your shin. Since hair has different stages of growth, and I had a few existing ingrown hairs, I didn’t expect all hair to be removed on the first pass, but it got like 98% of it. I very quickly grew used to the sensation and would describe it more like a minor discomfort on my legs, rather than pain. I swapped out the first head with the closer skin contact head and switched to the second speed with no issue. The first speed is supposed to be a gentler experience, while the second speed is more efficient. I just took my time with the process, held the device perpendicular to my skin as shown, and got the knack of it in no time.Moving on to underarms and bikini area —I used the recommended second head and opted for first speed. I gotta say, I didn’t think I could do it at first. The pain was significant for my first time. It felt like scraping a piece of glass against my skin, and I was actually worried I might have cut or damaged my skin somehow, but no, it’s just the epilator doing what it’s supposed to and my skin was fine. I held my breath, powered through, and focused on the fact that I wouldn’t have to use a razor again, that the pain would decrease with repeated use, and that the hair removal would last a lot longer than shaving.After that, I got out of the shower and applied Aquaphor ointment to all areas I had epilated. It was just something I had on hand, nothing I had particularly thought of to get specifically for epilating.There was zero redness, bumps, or irritation on my legs. A little on my underarms and bikini area. Come morning, however, that had all gone. I ended up deciding to do a second pass over my body to catch some of the finer hairs on my thighs and anything remaining on the sensitive areas. If you have ingrown hairs, you’ll have to tweeze them out. But this device is pretty good at catching everything else. This time, on Day 2, I epilated dry.I should mention that cleaning this device is very easy — being waterproof, you can rinse it under your faucet or shower, and the cleaning brush it comes with it immensely helpful. For hygienic purposes, you’re supposed to use a little rubbing alcohol with the brush, but I didn’t have that immediately on hand, and figured I’d just grab some on my next visit to the drugstore. The battery, fully charged, had also lasted me my entire epilation session the first day, and only on Day 2 when I did the shorter dry pass did it show that the battery was getting low.Regarding the dry epilation — on my legs there was no pain, only more of that prickly sensation as it removed the finer hairs. On the underarms and bikini area, there wasn’t much of a difference in terms of the pain. It really hurt, and again I thought I was tearing up my skin. But no; this is just what it feels like to pull out hairs in these sensitive areas. I got more redness and minor bumps, but nothing major. I reapplied Aquaphor to my underarms and bikini area, and today, on Day 3, there’s only a faint feeling of irritation, and that’s when I specifically poke the areas. Otherwise unnoticeable as I’m going about my day.My skin is gloriously smooth, and I love that I won’t have to worry about shaving again. I think using this epilator will quickly become a component of a self-care / spa-type day for me on my days off from work. Well worth the money, in my opinion. The bonus facial epilator and brush are great, too. I don’t think I’ll need to use the facial epilator (or at least very often), but I used the brush to just wash and gently scrub my face with the usual face washes I use, and it’s lovely.If you’re someone like me who’s tired of shaving or other hair removal methods, give this a shot — I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

LOVE this product. It has great battery life. The attachments are functional and an awesome addition. Hurts a bit in the beginning, but then your body adjusts. It's a bit on the heavy side. For this reason, I give it FOUR STARS. I do recommend this product. However, if you travel a lot it may not be the right one for you. Looking forward to a lighter, more travel friendly version in the near future!
