Use plastic covers with proper alignment before assembly.
Put plastic covers on before assembly and make sure the wide part of opening in properly aligned. Half are opposites of others. Great design and easy to assemble to provide a sturdy shelf system.

Liked it so much bought a second
I’ve spent countless hours searching reviews and even ordered the muscle rack which I returned instantly after seeing how flimsy the metal was. I finally decided on the dewalt storage rack and I was not disappointed. I’m a 55 year old woman and I installed the rack myself. Directions are not straight forward so I went online and followed a video. That made it easier to install. I wanted a solid metal with rack support beams and the Dewalt rack gives me that. It’s expensive in my opinion but worth it to get a quality rack.

Good design
The design is good. It's made in China and has a bit of made in China issues. A couple pieces were a little bent, but those can be bent back into place. I didn't realize there was a Dewalt logo on one of the racks, so I have that one in an odd place. Should be easy enough to fix, just not worth the effort.

This is a beast!
To say these shelves are stout is an understatement. This is a beast that can take on hundreds of pounds per shelf without budging.

The MacBook Pro of garage shelves
Having recently built a bunch of other shelves for a new garage, I figured these shelves would be a walk in the park. It took me around twice the time to build these shelves vs. the cheaper shelves I had built earlier, even though the other shelves were taller (72" vs. 48").I'm not a DeWalt fanboy, but these shelves are striking, so if you like DeWalt, they'll make you happy.Part of the build time you can chalk up to these being much sturdier than other shelves - almost ridiculously so. But I ran into two build issues that I would have given an extra star to avoid:1. There are four U-bracket caps labelled "A" and "B" - there are supposed to be two of each. Instead, I got three "B" caps, and only one "A" cap. Thinking I screwed things up, I had to take apart the side I had already built, only to find that indeed, I had been shorted one "A" cap. In the end, I made it work by putting the extra "B" where "A" should have gone, but frankly, there is no good reason why they needed two different cap styles to begin with. It only increases the chance that they will be fulfilled incorrectly.2. Compared with the previous (non-DeWalt) shelves I built, the instructions are *way* too wordy and complicated. A couple of well-placed diagrams (e.g. showing both correct and incorrect orientations) would be worth several hundred words each. It's not so much that these shelves are hard to build, but the instructions make it seem way more complicated than it really is.I ordered two sets of shelves - I'm hoping to at least avoid the U-bracket cap problem on the second build. In summary:Pros:Built like a brick dunny. Really, really strong.DeWalt, if you like that.Cons:Build instructions are more complicated than needed. Some QC issues, complicated by unnecessary parts specialization.Kind of expensive for 48" shelves.P.S. The second set of shelves built very quickly - I didn't need to refer to the way-too-complicated instructions at all. As I mentioned, the build is easy - the instructions aren't. Also, the second set had the requisite 2 x "A" caps and 2 x "B" caps, so that issue was avoided as well.
