How different is this from Fluxx 4.0?

I know it doesn't contain the creeper cards like 4.0.

for anyone who has played both Fluxx 4.0 and 5.0 which do you prefer and why?

I believe the difference between the two is 4.0 has creepers (an added concept to the gameplay) 5.0 does not the creators wanted to simplify the game so they took it out i have played both and i prefer 5.0

Does this deck mix well with the original decks, or is this considered more of a replacement?

It would mix very well with any other type of fluxx (zombie fluxx, batman fluxx, etc.) if you just wanted to make a super large deck. However if you wanted to mix it with an older version of just regular fluxx (4.0 and previous) your deck would just have two of most of the cards. The changes between core versions of the regular fluxx games are usually mostly aesthetic with only few cards switched out for others. This newest version 5.0 removes the creeper card type that was added in 4.0 and replaces them with a few action and new rule cards.

If you have multiple decks can more people play?

I've played Flux with as many as 10-12 people. It works providing you have two (or more?) Fluxx decks that mix well. I imagine this deck would play nicely with any other Fluxx deck, whereas mixing two specialty decks doesn't always work. (Zombies + Pirates = not good.) The other thing is that it can take a while to get around the table, so we had side chatter and a side game or two going on -- you might want to remove the "Play All", "Play 5", and "Play 4" cards from larger games to help speed it up.
