I have tried two other straightening kits from Amazon, “Kativa Brazilian Blowout” and “Keratin Research” also Brazilian. Kativa was an entire fume mess, living in a small apartment, I had to have my windows and doors open for nearly two days to get rid of the smoke in the air. Keratin Research was not as bad but the scent had me washing my hair immediately next day; I couldn’t take it. Both of these took 4-4 1/2 hours to complete the process and within 3-4 weeks I was already needing to retouch.Now., on to this product. I read a lot of reviews on here prior to purchasing and the ones that seemed to stand out were “odor” and “fumes.” I experienced neither but will list some things you might find helpful if you’re on the fence about purchasing this product because I had these questions prior to actually trying it out:1. The kit does not come with clarifying shampoo. You will need to purchase this separately. I used Nexxus Clean and Pure clarifying shampoo. After the results today I am convinced using clarifying shampoo that does not come with the kit is actually better.2. Applying the product and spreading evenly will require a small tooth comb. This will not only help to spread but also brush out the excess which you want so it makes the blow drying process easier. That being said, building up the product with this brand (and one of the greater advantages of it) is hard to do as it is cream/conditioner like unlike the two other products I tried which were more liquid and also transparent, making it hard to see whether I was over applying product.3. You are not looking to completely straighten and dry your hair in the blow drying process which is why the instructions recommend a square brush. The instructions dont say it but the best way is actually brushing down with the square brush while keeping the blow dryer above your head. You are looking to take out the dampness but it will still feel a little gooey as you still have to seal the product into your hair with the straightener. It does require a higher temperature to completely seal into the hair fiber.4. Even when you use the straightener, the hair will still feel a little heavy and that’s okay. Brush through it and keep going. This part of the process is to seal the product into the fibers of your hair and that’s it.5. I actually prefer the option to wash it off which you have to do after you straighten, even if I have to dry it again. The hair stays a little heavy with the product in it otherwise.Like I said, I did not experience fumes or strong odors at all, in comparison to the other two products I used, this one was a breeze! I was done in three hours and loved the results! I also liked that the product does not have strong chemical scent to it. I will be posting photos once I’ve dried my hair. Hope this is helpful :)

Ok, first i’ll Say that it did what it was supposed to. My extremely curly frizzy hair was relaxed/straightened and is extremely easy to dry. I’m only 3 days in so I have no idea how long it’ll last. The downside is that the negatives out way the one good. 1. It lightened my hair and by lightened I mean stripped a lot of color out. It was brown and now it’s 2 shades lighter & its orange. I haven’t colored my hair in a long time so it didn’t strip out new dye. I’m going to have to color my hair it looks so bad. 2. It burnt my scalp. Not the blow dryer, not the straightening iron but the same chemicals that bleached my hair, burnt my scalp and it is now flaking off in big pieces. 3. My hair after drying, whether I use a straightener or not has this waxy sticky feel to it. You can’t run your fingers through it because it sticks together and tangles easy. & 4. The smell. Straight out of the bottle, it’s fine. After applying it fine. During activation not great. After rinsing and drying, gross. 2nd day, even worse, 3rd day horrible. After washing it and while it’s wet, I completely agree with other reviews that it has underlying tones of death. It honestly smells like that nasty dead thing your dog finds and rolls in. Nobody around me smells it but it’s on my head and it’s all I can smell. Nothing is masking it. I thought others were exaggerating but NOPE. Totally disappointed the after/side effects outweigh the actual straightening After spending so many hours doing it. I also have a feeling that after this stuff wears off and out of my hair cuticle that my hair is going to be in worse/rough shape ☹️

I’ve been using Make It Straight for a few years now and last year I couldn’t find it anywhere so I started ordering from Amazon. It takes a little longer than using other straightening creams because you have to blow it straight then wait 15 mins then use your straightening iron. But it works great. My hair is very dry and it doesn’t damage it.

I just used this product and really wish I didn't buy 2 boxes. My hair feels funny now and am hoping after a couple washes it will feel like normal hair again. The part I liked the least was the step to flat iron. The directions warned about slight vapors and smell. It was anything from slight and made me very nervous. This might be well for some people and I'll give it some time to see if it's worth it in long run but as of right now I don't think I'll buy again
