Holdup Hip-Clip Style Under-Ups Suspenders for Men with the Patented Composite Plastic Gripper Clasps

As a person of a certain age, I've arrived at that stage in life when my belly is bigger than my booty, and thus I can't tighten my pants enough with a belt to keep them from sliding down when I bend over. I typically wear moderately thick jeans or hiking pants, and the dress suspenders sold in most clothing stores aren't sturdy enough to hold them up. Mostly, their clips are just too flimsy and easily loose their grip under even the slightest amount of strain.So I decided to try some beefier suspenders made for working men. The trouble is, I'm not a working guy, and the "contractor grade" suspenders with super wide straps and chunky, industrial grade clips, proved to be overkill for my needs. Aside from not being all that comfortable, due to their heft, I worried that over time their overly aggressive clips would begin to wear holes in my waistbands. And, frankly, I also wanted something a little more discreet that I could wear comfortably under my shirts.After a few uses, I retired my heavy-duty suspenders and replaced them with these -- and I couldn't be happier. Rather than using bulky clips, they adjust with Velcro. With the straps being narrower, softer and "trucker style," they are more comfortable and less noticeable under clothing. The plastic "cam" connectors hold just as tightly as the full-size metal clips that look like miniature leghold traps, but being smaller they're also more comfortable and less likely to dig into my waist when I sit down or bend over.I can't speak to how effective these might be for not triggering security scanners at airports. From other posts I've read, the latest generation of scanners, being less focused on metal, will "see" these quite readily when worn under clothing, potentially leading to the wearer being pulled aside for closer inspection. Thus, if worn on a plane trip, I might opt to wear these suspenders like regular ones -- outside my shirt where they would easily visible -- and then move them to their more discrete location once I arrive at my destination.But I'll cross that bridge when I come to it -- and it may be quite a while, or at least until COVID is a thing of the past. For now, I'm totally satisfied with these lightweight, comfortable & inconspicuous suspenders.

I have been buying suspenders from this company for years, and bought this latest item simply because I have loved my prior one close to death...it's falling apart at the seams after years of use. Please note: this particularly style is indeed undergarment--they have other suspenders that look good outside of a shirt.I have come to the age and shape that belts just don't hold up my pants well, and besides that, it's just not good for the belly to be compressed by a belt [I am an M.D., I might add...].I wear Hawaiian shirts more than half the year, wearing them to work from pre-spring to late fall [it helps to live in Oregon and like cool temperatures].These go onto my pants quickly, and the nylon clips hold quite securely. Unlike metal clips, these don't damage my pants' waistband other than crushing it just a bit.Because of the "Trucker Style," I don't have clips pushing into my back in my office chair or on an airplane.Best part is...well, if I need to pull my pants down in the bathroom, with 4-clip designs, my shirt would have to come off first, then I'd drop the suspenders from my shoulders. Now I can just lift up my shirt, open the clips, do my business, and put the clips back on.The elastic is like a heavy-duty version of an Ace Bandage, not uncomfortable, stretches as needed, but in the years I've used my existing pair, the elastic has not significantly stretched out of shape, it keeps its tension.OK: the bad news---the No-buzz feature used to be great, with the past TSA machines. With the new scanners, even the nylon clips and adjusters show up as suspicious items, which has yielded me some undesired intimate experiences with TSA agents. So my routine now when flying is either to just wear a belt which I can take off, or to take off my overshirt while in line so I can pull off the suspenders. I'm not taking off any stars for this because....well, this company can't help it that TSA has changed their machines.

Sooo close to a five star... I am a big guy (6'2", 300LB) with broad chest. These suspenders fit well, do the job and are pretty comfortable. You can wear with an open neck golf shirt and no one will notice.The reason I got these is A) to stop my wife from constantly telling me to pull up my pants... and B) to stop constantly having to worry about my pants dropping around my ankles.. These did the job.Pros -Almost unnoticeable to other people. (only time anyone noticed was when they gave me a hug and you can feel the looks through the cotton.Comfortable - after you get used to them you don't notice them anymore.Really hold up the pants - can finally actually hold my wallet, phone and car keys in my pockets without constantly having to worry!!Cons -The reason for the four star was durability during sitting. I wore these to a baseball game where I was up and down a good amount, the pressure of hitting the back to the hard seats ended up knocking one of the clips loose. I ended up with the suspenders bunched up under the back of my shirt. As they are looped around your shoulders, the only way to undo is to take off your shirt.. got some weird looks in the bathroom at the stadium. I found the resolution was to loosen them if I was going to be up and down a lot.Overall - Very happy with the purchase and the price and would recommend to others.
