Possibly the best phone on the market right now
I've been using this phone a little over 3 months now (upgraded from LG G7) and It is just awesome in every way. Let me break down how awesome it is.Pros- Headphone Jack (Actual headphone amp built in too, has things like MQA support if you care about that)- Global Unlock for all carriers- Firmware straight from LG- Extremely great pictures (see attached Photos) in most lighting scenarios.- Able to capture fast moving objects in automatic mode- Great performance, apps are lightning fast despite the task. Rare for apps to close in the background.- Awesome AI battery saver; all day battery life is super easy and achievable with something like this.- Fast LTE speeds and coverage- Great color accuracy on screen, OLED at its finest. Much more true to life colors vs other OLED screens.- Long bluetooth range (I've personally tested 40+ feet through walls)- Extremely stable- Very customizable UI; I was thinking about moving to another launcher but the LG launcher is actually very good once you know how to use it.- Fast wireless charging support (phone gets a bit hot in this mode) 18W.- Battery temp wear leveling AI charging; keeps your battery from wearing out quickly (hopefully extends the life of the phone)- Fast SD card support; able to use 1TB SD Cards.- Great speakers (audio from screen dual speaker setup); clear overall for videos.- Piezeo screen speaker acts as "bone conduction" if you touch the phone to your head while talking on the phone; allowing you to hear in a loud area.- Extremely fast fingerprint matching- Extra year warranty as long as you buy from a certified seller.Cons- Hard to get a screen protector that works for the "curved glass"- Selfie camera sometimes has grainy pictures (especially if the lighting isn't the best)- Has Notch- No Notification Light (although you can setup a Notification "icon" that appears on the screen while its off)- SBC Codec for bluetooth not the best; this seems to be an LG thing. Use Bluetooth devices that aren't SBC and it will be fine.- No way to remap assistant buttonAll in all this is the greatest phone I've ever used. I've tested many phones over time and used HTC phones for years. I came to LG from HTC after google bought them out... My first LG experience was a bit of a mixed bag but the battery life and speed of the phone got me to get the G8. I am using this phone on RedPocket with the ATT network and am very satisfied with the coverage and speed at this point in time.I think that LG checked all the right boxes here.... if this phone had a removable battery and a plastic back it would literally be the greatest phone of all time. I feel as the tech press / reviewers really didn't give this phone the credit it deserves. After using other 2019 flagships in various scenarios; this one just beats them all out in probably everything but the selfie cam.If you can afford to buy this phone full price and unlocked; then its definitely the phone to get at this point in time. Sure new models will come out soon; but I wouldn't expect them to be much better. If this review helped you; please mark it helpful! Thanks!

They lied
It's not the phone really. The phone is great. Both Verizon and straight talk said phone is not compatible. Even though the description clearly states it's compatible with all carriers. Now for me it's useless. Waste of money. They lied. It's probably only GSM.

This is LG's best overall option
Okay, if you are a content creator or someone who uses their phone to work online, I can see the "V" series from LG being a great option. But for everyone else: Please consider this 2019 Hero phone as an option. You just can not get a better value for the money. Camera performance is amazing- crisp, detailed photos that are on par with most top shooters. A great screen. Good battery life. I charged it to 100% and pulled it off the charger at 6:40 AM and it had 28% left at 12:20 AM the next day, a hair under 18 hours. The audio from the 3.5MM jack is SO GOOD. I listen to music, radio, and podcast a ton and the DAC logic the G8 uses makes it the best of any phone, anywhere, at anytime. Get a high quality wired head phone and enjoy. The internal storage, processor, and multi tasking are excellent. There are more security options on the G8 than any other phone: Quick as a hiccup fingerprint scanner, dependable face recognition, palm reader, and a few other options. This is all at a price that will leave a ton more in your wallet than other devices. There are some UI choices that are strange and AI tools that are useful but tricky to get good at. But these are not real complaints at this price value. Simply put: The LG G8 is a phone that has plenty of strengths and is weak at literally nothing.

Great phone, but not at the launch price. LG don't do updates fast enough.
The phone comes with a case, decent earphones, a fast charger, screen cleaner and the sim tool. LG don't skimp on their accessories and at the original price the manufacturers shouldn't. I didn't pay a flagship price and I will usually wait a year to buy a phone, but this was priced well for current hardware specs, because the reviews say there are slightly better phones, but that was at the original price an LG reduced their prices. The battery is usually at 40% at the end of my work day and I usually have Neutron music player going. The audio quality is awesome and I don't have to turn the preamp down when boosting the low frequencies at say 40hz, probably because of the dac.The size off the screen is perfect for me because I can use it with one hand. You can tweak the colors in the settings, because the default is too blue. I haven't had any burn in and I use the always on display. There are themes you can download for the always on display along with the lock screen an UI.Supposedly other cameras are slightly better but to me this is good. I also ported Google camera and it works a tiny bit better. I can't change the Google voice button or the double press of the power button to open Google camera or another app.The phone and message app that they include are similar to Google's, but there are no spam filters, so I'm using Google's.The Bluetooth signals are a bit stronger in my house connecting to the same equipment as my previous phones including my Essential PH-1. The call signal seems on par with previous phones. HD voice on Verizon works.LG don't update their phones fast enough. As of July I'm on A February update, I guess I'm spoiled with my PH-1 updates and their OS was stock, so updates came few hours after Google released theirs. This phone came with Android 9, was updated to 10 and that changed the UI a lot, but I think it's better. Browsers freezes sometimes, especially when playing videos in any web browsers and I have to exit and open again. It's a problem with Android 10 and it happened on my ph-1 also, which is why I'm hoping LG will give us android 11. It shouldn't be a carrier problem to update your phone, because Essential was able to give me updates on my PH-1 with Verizon almost as soon as Google released theirs. LG just changes the os too much. Great bang for your buck overall.
