Stearns Classic Kids Life Vest, USCG Approved Type III Jacket for Children Under 90 lbs, Ideal for Boating, Swimming, Watersports

I bought this for my 2-year-old and it seems to fit her well enough. She is on the smaller end of the fitting recommendation so it does seem a bit big on her, but not too big. The entire vest feels durable, especially the buckles. I appreciate the bright coloring of the vest and the verticle buckle that goes between their legs for added security. My little one was able to move around in the vest just fine.

So I gave this a 5 star however, the strap between the legs could have been made better. When the child was in the water it kept riding up and was clearly uncomfortable. The fit was ok for my little boy but he's on the smaller end. And the jacket was boyant.

This life vest feels like good quality and should work well. The fit of children’s life vest can be difficult. The child this was bought for was at the bottom of the weight range listed but the fit was perfect. I think this would be too small for him if he was at the top of the weight range. Would recommend this as long as it fits the child well.

The weight range for this vest is 30-50 pounds. It is a U.S.Coast Guard approved Class III (recreational) flotation device with an "intended use" stated as a "ski vest". It has three straps placed where you want them with very substantial plastic snap buckles that don't easily lend themselves to being opened by the child. The quality of construction is as good as the Stohlquist Youth vest that is virtually identical, except this vest is made in the U.S. by The Coleman Company. You get a good, basic life vest, appropriate for a child within the stated weight range for about twenty bucks, which is a bargain. The vest has no pockets or other bells and whistles.What I particularly like about this vest is the adjustable crotch strap that keeps the child from falling out the bottom if the vest is being worn too loosely and the child puts his/her arms straight up and possibly slips out. You don't have to use the crotch strap, but it's there and can be easily stowed at the back of the vest if you don't want it. Maybe you need a crotch strap for a "ski vest," but it' also going to make the child-occupant happier for ordinary floating around because they'll float higher in the water and the vest won't ride up in front of their face. Anyone who has bobbed around in a PFD a long time knows you have to keep pulling it down to keep it from riding up in the water. This crotch strap solves that problem. I wish it were an option on adult PFDs where the waist strap has to be adjusted very tight to achieve the same result.

Love this life jacket for my 6 year old. He's 54in & around 60 lbs. It fits perfectly. Great fit & must have for boating or kayaking.

This life jacket is the best first life jacket. It was easy to fit to my son, the color is his favorite, though it didn’t come in any other color choice. It made me more comfortable knowing it’s certified by the USCG. My son has never been swimming in a deep pool before, but because of how safe it made him feel, he’s jumping into the pool and swimming all over now. Knowing he is safe, makes me feel at ease taking him swimming.
