LorAnn Food Coloring Powder 1/2 Ounce, Set of 5 Colors

I've used the normal store bought liquid food coloring, gel food coloring, and food color pens. I recently wanted to try making a stained glass type cake for a wedding celebration and after lots of internet searching found powdered food coloring to be the way to do it. So, I ventured into the powdered food coloring area with these. They worked wonderfully. As with any food coloring, the amount you use will dictate the saturation of color. These start as beautiful colors, so if you are looking for light or less saturated versions you can use a little powder. If you're looking for a more saturated colors, you will need to use more powder just as you would need to use more gel or liquid food coloring. One major advantage to these powders over gel or liquid is that they work with both oil-based and water-based foods. You can color fondant, modeling chocolate, frosting, etc with these. Want to paint on modeling chocolate? Try gel or your typical water-based liquid colors and you'll find it beads up. With these, you can mix a little powder with some white shortening or other oil-based product and voila! You can paint on modeling chocolate! As a food artist (mostly in the form of cake decorating), I've really enjoyed using these so far.

Product is good but came split so the green I was unable to use

I used these dyes for icing holiday cookies. At first the color was lack luster, but once left to sit for about and hour the colors were more pronounced. Not as bright as I had hoped for but they did the job well. If I could give a 4.5 I would definitely do so!

Excellent food coloring, works great for any purpose i have been able to think of. I have used it for dying agar, food, deserts, decorations, and it has been a great value. A little bit of this powder goes a VERY long way, and it is great having so many colors. My only criticism would be that I wish they had not included things like purple that are just a mix of red and blue, id prefer more mixing options. all in all fantastic valuei just use a knife to poke holes in the foil over each jar, sort of like an improvised salt shaker lid, and gently tap the jar to dispense the food coloring. i imagine this supply will last me many years, since it goes much further than the liquid kind

I thought these would be a better buy. I bought to color chocolate for making cake pops. In order to get a deep color, you have to use a lot. Also, it takes a while to incorporate leaving pockets of undisolved color. I was disappointed. Hopefully, I can find the right technique, as of my initial experience, I wouldn't buy again.

Great product, nice dark color. I love that it does not liquify the frosting or fondant. I've only tried one color so far. The foil on one bottle was loose and some color had spilled out, so I was not happy about that. I'm excited to try the red and black. It is difficult to get a bright red frosting so I'm excited to try it.

Would not purchase again.Made macarons and too way too much powder to achieve a pastel lavender.No taste was a plus. That was the only positive.

The colors are brilliant and the powder fine and easy to work into fondant and candy clay.The seller contacted me to be SURE I was happy with my purchase. I explained that there appeared to have been a flaw in the packaging from the manufacturer for one of the colors and it had spilled inside the plastic clamshell. They shipped me another FULL SET of colors free of charge even though it was only one color I had any problem with. My experience with this seller was excellent!
