Better than oyster sauce in my opinion

Superb for stir frys
As a vegan I've been looking for a vegan alternative to oyster sauce. Frustratingly I could not find such an item in any of the supermarkets where I live or even in the Asian grocery stores. I therefore decided to buy this item from Amazon and I'm extremely pleased! I mix equal parts light soy, dark soy and mushroom sauce (and a pinch of sugar) for a great stir fry sauce. This mushroom sauce has elevated my stir frys adds and I will definitely buy again when I run out.

Good stuff, too expensive
I'm sure you can get this cheaper from an Asian store, however mine doesn't stock it and I was desperate. Perfect substitute to the oyster version in recipes.

Recommended as vegetarian alternative to oyster sauce. Have used it in a couple of Vietnamese recipes - really impressed by it. No artificial / unacceptable taste and works really well as an alternative

Not to my taste
As a fan of Lee Kum Kee sauces who also likes mushrooms, I thought I'd give this a try. But I didn't like it much.It's a thick sauce, like a ketchup. I found it both very sweet and very salty, which for me is a sickly combination. I wouldn't want to use it as a dipping sauce, when there are nicer flavours to be had from other Lee Kum Kee sauces. But it improves when mixed with water, though there's still a dull, metallic edge to it. Cooked into a dish, it doesn't add much from my point of view--if anything making the flavour worse. I was hoping a mushroom taste would come through, but I couldn't detect one.I'm sure the sauce is a high-quality product from this superior company; it just happens not to suit my tastebuds. I can, however, thoroughly recommend Lee Kum Key Premier dark and light soy sauces, as well as their premier oyster sauce.
