A heads-up for anyone replacing an older SQ1102 motor
I ordered this motor as it was said to be a direct replacement for the A.O. Smith SQ1102 motor I had with powered my PacFab Challenger pool pump. Upon receiving the motor I discovered it was actually a Century motor (A.O. Smith is now Century) and that the center of the shaft was not drilled and taped with counter clockwise threads for a 1/4" impeller locking bolt, as was my older motor. Thinking that the locking bolt was a requirement, after much research and calls to Century electric motors (Regal Beloit actually) and another pool supply company, I found out that the motor shaft is no longer drilled and taped for the locking screw as it's now deemed unnecessary due to the fact that the impeller screws on clockwise and the shaft turns counter clockwise. So ... long story short, this motor IS the correct replacement for your older SQ1102 motor. Hope this helps someone, I know it would have helped me in my research to replace my motor.

It might take time to do this job correctly but youll save yourself hundreds
A good pool motor replacement that is single speed. Recommend that the mechanical seal is always replaced. Impeller removal requires the back cover to come off ( you have to wire it anyway) and loosen and remove the big silver capacitor so a 1/2β wrench can fit and hold the shaft. I used a strap wrench wrapped around the impeller, standard counter clock wise to loosen. Take note of your circuit breaker for the pump. If you have to push 2 breakers -then the pump runs on 230 volts, make sure the black knob is set to 230 or things can go wrong and the pump will die quickly OR it will trip the breakers when you energize the circuit.

EDIT .. Not too loud anymore
Just installed it, seems to be working good but its SUPER LOUD!EDIT:It was loud because I used the provided rubber piece between the ground support and motor. Removed this piece and it got as quiet as my previos pump. I guess it had to do with aligment.

Poorley made, bad quality, Won't last very long " 4 months "
This Chinese made motor is very low Quality, short life expectancy. I should know, 44 years as a master electrician.

This motor is an exact replacement for my previous motor which lasted 7-8 years.
Good price, fairly quick delivery and uneventful installation. All that remains is a good lifetime.

Nice Motor, Chinese-made.
This motor is the correct SQ1102 motor and is well made. It is slightly longer than the original motor and the mount is correct. For anyone purchasing one of these motors, keep in mind that the AO Smith company sold the motor division to a Chinese company (Century Electric). Although the quality of the motor seems to be quite good, if you want something made in the US, prepare to pay significantly more for essentially the same motor.
