I used to love doing my own nails. Then I went and got acrylic nails and my nails became brittle after taking them off. I had a dent in my nails from when the acrylic nails were. Since then, I’ve been biting my nails but now they’re healthier and I hate it that I keep biting them. So I got this and it works! YES, IT’S GOING TO HAVE A BITTER TASTE. That’s the point! People complain that it gets on their food. I have to disagree. The first time I ate a snack, I forgot it was on and when I put the food in my mouth with my hand, I tasted the polish but it did NOT get ON my food. Instead, I grabbed the popcorn with my fingers and put it in the palm of my hand, and then put it in my mouth. The popcorn did NOT taste like the nail polish even when I grabbed it with my fingers. When I ate chips, I grabbed them with my finger and made sure the tips of my fingers were at the bottom half of the chips so my fingers wouldn’t go in my mouth... again, my chips did not taste like the nail polish. It’s annoying to be cautious while I eat, floss, or wipe my mouth, but it’s only until I break this bad habit and it’ll be worth it. Lastly, I swear my nails grew over night. I only used it for two days so far. I applied in the morning and when I woke up the next day, they looked A LITTLE BIT longer. I also like the fact that it literally dries in a minute or less. I’ve only used on bare nails so I’m not sure if the drying time would be the same with regular polish under it. Maybe I’ll come back on in a month and do an updated review. I already took the before picture so I’ll see what it looks like in a month. UPDATE: it’s been 7 days since I used it. I LOVE THIS STUFF! I put on a new coat every day. I started last Sunday, and now it’s Saturday and I took the polish off and added a new coat. My nails grew like crazy within the first week. My nails have NEVER grown that fast and they have never been this strong. Too bad this nail polish taste horrible because otherwise I would use it as my go to. I don’t want to stop using it but eventually I will have to. It’s literally a miracle polish. The only thing I didn’t like (besides the taste) is the fact that it peels off easily. After washing dishes and/or taking a shower, I notice that some of the polish either came off or it would be peeling off, which is why I applied a new coat daily. I can’t wait to see what my nails will look like in a month.

I binge bite my finger nails to a painful, bloody nub. I've tried all kinds of nail hardener/fixer etc but this is the best so far. My problem area is the top edge of the nail where I manage to catch a rough part which leads to pulling out part of the nail which occasionally is deep enough to bleed. When I first applied this stuff My hands were dry and clean. I applied a light coating over the problem areas only. This stuff dried to a smooth surface. I reapply every couple of days or as needed, and occasionally buff with a very smooth sandpaper. I don't have any "white" nail tips yet but I have managed to abstain from messing with my nails at all,(obviously necessary haha) and am waiting for my nails to grow to the point I can use an emery stick. If the product works well I will revisit and give it 5 stars, just rec'd a week or so. I have noticed the bitter taste because it seems to permeate everything I touch, so even if you don't actively bite your nails you'll probably notice a bitter taste, but it's minor and I'm into my 2nd week of no biting and will update to 5 stars when I have enough nail to file I can't address how this product will work regarding combination of regular nail polish etc because I don't use that stuff. Also avoid any finger foods like French fries etc this stuff is very bitter and it travels. Update 1/27/24 No biting so far, almost a month (yay) but need to add please be careful of getting this stuff in your eyes by unconscious rubbing ! June 20, 2024 Ok, time for an update: I started using this stuff beginning of Jan, 2024. By mid April my nails were long enough to file down, except for thumbs and rt hand middle finger (the one we use in traffic); apparently finger nails grow at different speeds like our hair. It's taken awhile for my nails to grow out but during the process this product did its job. I am very satisfied. Anytime I start worrying my thumbnails or any other I dab a little bit of the product on the danger zone. I know if I mess with it, then mess with my mustache the taste will end up in my mouth and it's a bitter taste that takes awhile to go away. I've upped my review to 5 stars. This is the best product for not only stopping the mutilation of my finger tips, but also work's for ongoing treatment, maintenance etc.

I've been biting my fingernails for 30 years. I was extremely skeptical because nothing has ever helped me stop since I don't even realize I'm doing it until my fingernails down to the whites and I'm bleeding. Other nail polishes like this, I will literally eat through until the bitter/spicy taste goes away. But I bought this because there were a lot of good reviews from people in similar situations. It looks and smells just like a regular clear nail polish, but it is definitely not. Out of everything I've ever tried, this is the strongest. It tastes so bitter and the taste lingers in your mouth to create a negative conditioning with biting your nails. As soon as you put your fingers in your mouth, you will regret it. So it has definitely worked for curbing that. So what are the CONS: The taste is so bad that it ruins anything you need to eat with your hands. I tried to eat wings and it was so disgusting. My husband accidentally picked one up that I had started eating and he spit it in the trash. I found that I rest my hands on my face and then I taste the bitterness on my lips all day. So that's also a habit that I need to break now. I have found that since I can't bite my nails, I have been picking at the nail polish until it comes off. But even if I put my fingers in my mouth after I've picked it off, I have found that there still a bitter taste to quickly remind me, so I like that. Once I realize I have picked it off, I just reapply it. I find myself now picking the skin around my nails instead so that's still a thing, but at least I'm keeping my disgusting fingernails out of my mouth!!! Overall, I would definitely recommend for anyone that has severe problems with nail biting. It may not stop you from other "obsessive disorders", but my goal with this was just to keep my nails out of my mouth for hygienic purposes. I also want to add that my nails are a lot stronger as well.

I'm embarrassed to say that I am in my late 40's and have been a nail biter my entire life. After 40+ years of this habit, it is extremely hard to break. I don't even realize when I am biting or picking at my nails. I've used products like this Barielle No Bite before, and I've had decent results, but it has been a while so I got this product to try again. I took a photo of my nails before and then my nails after. The "after" photo, though, is not solely due to the product. After taking the "before" photo, I applied the product to my nails and cuticles, since I bite the heck out of them too. Let me say that this stuff tastes awful, which is the whole point! It definitely was a reminder to myself to STOP and take my hands away from my mouth. Even after several days of showers and washing hands, the taste still lingered, and I eventually reapplied after about 4 days. The problem I had was that since I put it on my nails and cuticles, meaning my fingers were quite covered, it was very unpleasant to eat finger foods or even handle food. It was very hard for me to eat grapes or popcorn without getting the taste in my mouth. When I was slicing veggies for my salad, I was trying to be careful not to have my nails touch the food, but it wasn't easy. My foods just really tasted awful for a while. However, it was still a small price to pay and a temporary situation for me to get on the right track. My nails are nowhere near the beautiful things I want them to be, but I've definitely gotten over that initial hump of the first few weeks of no biting. I don't apply the stuff anymore, since my nails are long enough now that as soon as I put them near my mouth, I stop because I feel the nail. In the "after" photo, one of the nails had just broken, nothing to do with biting it. So I do recommend the product, but just warn that it will do more than keep you from biting your nails. The taste will get onto your finger foods too.

Description says that it is odorless...it smells like fingernail polish. It definitely has an odor that is the same as any other polish I have smelled. Description says it is invisible and gloss-free. That is also very untrue! It is 100% glossy and noticeable....which means it is also not invisible. It might be "clear", but not invisible. The entire reason I purchased this was to stop biting my nails with a polish that wasn't shimmery and glossy. If that is what you desire, look elsewhere. As far as the bitter taste, they are correct about that. It tastes disgusting....and that bitterness transfers to anything that you might touch it seems. It is easy to wash off. Anytime I take a shower, I know that I need to reapply it. Overall it works good, the description just needs to be changed to be more accurate.

This was for my son who kept bitting his finger nails everyday. It does what it is meant to do. His nails are growing back stronger than before. Would recommend for those who bit their nails.

I virtually never leave reviews, but I have been a wolf biter for at least a decade and I don't know why it took me so long to go out of my way to buy something like this for this incorrigible habit. I've been so embarrassed and ashamed of my fingers for wayyy too long, and it's long generated a strong source of self-loathing. It's been about three weeks since I bought this, and though I've caught myself slipping and teething at my fingers, for the most part, the rancid, mouth-burning taste of this product has almost completely made me averse to biting, let alone letting my fingers get anywhere near my mouth. (I say throat-burning, but it doesn't hurt at all. It's just incredibly bitter lol) The only possibly, EASILY-eclipsed negative to this product is that it makes eating things with your fingers absolutely disgusting, but it creates even more of an incentive to quit the habit and stop using this product. Like I said, it's nothing compared to the benefits of it. Honestly have been battling out this habit for the last 10+ years alone and did not realize this was such a quick fix. Obviously it still takes time, and I am not 100% where I want to be in terms of my nails, but this is the best they've looked since I was in elementary school and the weirdest sensation is that I'm not humiliated every time someone so much as glances at my hands. If whoever is reading this is anything like me and has tried time and time and time again to quit cold turkey without product, or has told themselves every other day that today would be the day they REALLY stop for months bleeding into years, or has had multiple bandaids on the tips of their fingers and had people ask if they were okay and had to respond—of course not without overwhelming chagrin—that they're just another bunch of lousy paper cuts, please seriously consider buying this. Give it a shot. It's so so hard to stop without any help, and because of this product, buying nail polish at the drugstore is not so much an impossibility anymore. TRY IT. It works like a dream. Or, at least, it did for me, and I hope it does for you.

Title says it all. The kids hate it. So it works. Has enough staying power for even determined biters.

It totally does what it promises. It stays about a week. So you have to keep reapplying till you get rid of the habit.

It is quite effective and has a got a bitter taste which u won't forget for some time.But since I'm from India and I use my hands for having food,its quite difficult for me to adjust as whatever I eat with my hand is bitter from the Polish,now I have to learn how to use a spoon properly.
