Review: Barsetto Grind & Brew Automatic Coffeemaker
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I've been using it for about a month now and have some thoughts on it that I'd like to share with you. It's got a built-in coffee grinder, which I love! The taste of fresh-ground coffee is SO much better than store-bought pre-ground coffee in my opinion. The bean container on top has a lid with a great seal to help keep your bean fresh, too! It's also got a lot of the regular stuff like being programmable to turn on at certain times, which is great, but... There's always a but, right? In this case, the but is that the coffee pot only stays on for 60 minutes and there's no way to change that. There are options for determining how much coffee to grind and how fine our coarse you'd like your ground coffee to be.One other thing that I'm not a fan of besides the 1 hour time limit is that it beeps. Loudly. Three loud beeps when the coffee is done and ready. You also get 3 loud beeps when the coffee pot is turning itself off. And there's no way to turn that off.If I could ask Barsetto to make a couple of changes, it would be to make the timer adjustable so the user can decide how long the coffee pot stays on. I would also ask them to let the user decide if they want the beeps.

Initial Evaluation
The first brew cycle this morning generated a pot of coffee too weak to drink. Initially, we thought we needed to set the grind finer, however when I went to clean out the filter to brew a second pot it was clear that the weak coffee was due to the lack of beans ground into the filter. I had the settings for strong brew, 10 cup, medium grind and an automatic start at 5AM. I poured out the first pot, adjusted the bean grind to almost the finest setting and started again. The grinder started but I could see no beans falling into the grinder. I jarred the machine and beans began to fall in. This pot was drinkable but not as strong as we would like.Additionally, this machine sits on the counter and just barely fits under the cabinets. This requires me to move the pot out from under the cabinets to add water and beans. The control panel has labels of what each button does under the button, however the labels are so faint in contrast to the black background that I needed to look in the instruction manual to see which button did what, poor design. The clean up is easy enough and does not require moving the machine out past the cabinet. As large as the machine is it would seem it could hold more water in the reservoir than merely one 10 cup pot worth.I don't generally write reviews but for the price of this coffee maker with a built in grinder I was quite disappointed. My French press and my old coffee maker minus the automatic grinder made better coffee with less work. I will give this machine another attempt at automatically brewing a pot tomorrow morning. If it again fails to grind enough beans into the filter to make decent coffee I will be returning it. I will add to this post with the results tomorrow.Update with photos: The pictures were taken at 5:20 AM after the programmed automatic brew started and ran at 5:00AM. The first picture is of the supposedly Strong brew of coffee. Next you see that there are beans in the bean box, then the ground beans in the filter and it is apparent why the brew was so weak. Last is the LCD screen showing the brew was set for 10 cup Strong. Obviously a faulty machine.

Unresponsive vendor
The coffee maker itself works OK. The parts are all plastic and seem pretty flimsy. The coffee brewed is also OK. About what you'd expect for the price of the unit. The problem is with the Barsetto. The documentation the comes with machine is a total joke. It was clearly written in a foreign language and run through a rudimentary translator. If you are going to sell a product in any country, the documentation for that product should be in the language of that country! The instructions on how to operate the unit are either incomplete or non-existent. I contacted Barsetto through their website twice to try to get better instructions on how to properly descale the unit and I was ignored twice. No response whatsoever! This gives me pause because I wonder what would happen if anything went wrong with the unit? I know Amazon will stand by anything it sells, but that's not the point. I hope Amazon puts some pressure on Barsetto after reading this review and forces them to get their act together or simply stops carrying their products!

Great when it worked.
This machine makes a great cup of coffee, however, after 2.5 months of use, it no longer works. It will grind the coffee but will not circulate and heat the water. Checked for blockage in the water lines. Cleaned out some stray grinds but it still does not work. Having trouble tracking down the warrantee process as well.

Great Appliance But No Replacement Parts
This coffee maker makes a great cup of coffee. Fresh ground beans make a flavorful brew. Has been a workhorse for me over past 2 weeks, making at least one pot every day. However, when I asked the company via email about getting spare parts like a carafe or a new filter, the company stated that they do not provide any replacement parts. This could be a disappointment in the future if the carafe breaks and a new one is needed.

The grinder broke after two uses...
After using it only twice, the coffee grinder stopped working. I’m not sure if there was some sort of production malfunction, but it worked great the two times I was able to use it. I unscrewed everything I could to try to figure out the problem with the grinder but I came up unsuccessful. Unfortunately I will be returning this product and expecting a full refund.

Not a 12-cup capacity
This product makes very good coffee. Unlike others, the loud beep doesn't bother me, and I find it easy to use and easy to clean. What's disappointing is that the photo clearly shows a 12-cup coffee capacity while the unit I received was only a 10-cup capacity. My other complaint is about the design of the carafe. It's very stupid. The mouth is so wide that you spill coffee when pouring it into the cup. You also spill when using the carafe to fill the coffee reservoir with water. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to design a proper pour spout.
