MXR Flanger is a tank
I was looking for an original from the 70s initially, but found that they tended to cost even more than the reissue, so for pure convenience I went with the reissue and I was not disappointed. It seems very well built, with solid metal casing and quality pots. The only thing that feels at all cheap is the thin dc power adapter cable, but it seems far more convenient than the original fat AC cable coming out.The sound range you can create is quite versatile for a flanger. Once you get the hang of what each pot does you can quickly create anything from classic tough sweeping jet plane sounds, to softer "chorus" type effects. It seems to really excels at its job when you provide it with a noisy or distorted signal. Such as in a chain after a distortion pedal or with a synth using a very open filter or with a noise source added to the signal chain. Part of this is probably that the effect is very easy to hear in the higher register, so the more complexity you add in the high end the more you can hear it chew that signal.I would say it has some very specific classic uses and clearly isn't for everyone, but it does what it does extremely well.

A classic that works great at synth audio levels.
A great pedal, one of the best classic flaggers next to the e-mistress. It does come with a 18 volt power supply in the box as well so you won't need one. It is built insanely well so yeah can't go wrong. Has enough headroom for synth and line level signals. Makes great airplane wooshes and even will do chorus sounds in one effect.

Smooth transaction
smooth transaction, quick delivery, new item as promised. It even came with an 18V adapter which I didnt expect (I bought one separately). Everything is as expected. I had one of these years ago, that was AC power feed. This sounds exactly the same and has the convience (and silence) of DC power. Love it. EVH tones all day long.

Experimental, Unchained, Sonic
I have always trusted MXR in my signal chain because they deliver on great analog pedals for any application. This flanger helps provide not only a VH sound but works well with the delay during sonic outbursts, lol.

Best there is still!
I pulled it out of the box, placed it in my chain and 30 seconds later was jamming, 1 hour later I was playing live with it in my chain.

John McGeoch’s Flanger
I bought this because I’m a big fan of John McGeoch and this was the flanger he used. It’s a classic pedal and if you dial it in right, you can get some great sounds. You will hear this pedal if you listen to the Siouxsie & the Banshees album “JuJu.”There is more involved than just this pedal to get John McGeoch’s guitar tone, but it’s one of the essential elements.

Better than the original
I bought the original MXR flanger back in the 80's and used that pedal more than any other stomp I have ever owned. Want chorus? Want flange? Want that static wah pedal sound where you find the right frequency and just keep the pedal there? This version improves on the original by fixing the two major flaws I had with it.1. Drop in volume when the effect is engaged. Fixed +2. The "wooshing" sound when engaged and muting. Fixed +My all time favorite pedal is now even better. Get it while you can at 130 bucks. :)GD
