Energy CF-70 Floor-standing Speaker (Single, Black)

Purchased this pair of speakers from Expo Electronics, at a great price (compared to other online prices).I previously had some JBL E60 speakers which never satisfied my taste. Too muddy sounding for my taste.Anyway, the differences against those if noticeable. Highs/treble is way better defined, and the bass is stronger (as it should be, as these speakers are bigger because of the included woofers). I find that the balance in all frequencies reproduction is quite well achieved, and that would confirm what other reviewers have been saying about these speakers, that its response if quite flat across the board (meaning that the treble, for example, does not overtake the middle and bass frequencies, etc.)."Supposedly" you need around 100 hours of use to "break-in" these babies. I am skeptical, but if it indeed happens, I suppose I will be astonished with the "new" sound, as they sound is great to my ears right now as they are.I am glad I took the CF70s over the CF50s because of the added bass. I thought it was going to be overkill in my system, as I already have a boomy Sony subwoofer, but the truth is that my AV receiver makes good use of the CF70s woofers plus the Sony subwoofer, specially while listening to stereo music (i.e. CDs, LPs). It kind of spreads better the bass field.Enjoy...

Off axis listening on these is poor. They do not do well in a 2 channel setup without angling inwards and then the sweet spot is really small. If you use them in a home theater with a center channel it's fine. They can get extremely loud and sound quality is decent for the price.

I love these speakers. I read all the good reviews about them online. The two lower woofers put out a lot of bass, surprised the heck out of me. love the crisp pop of the midrange. I like to crank these up loud so I can hear them throughout my one story house. Also I love the way they look with out the covers on the front, didn't even bother putting them on. They were half the price of the big box stores so I didn't want to let them go. They were out of stock but I didn't mind waiting. It said estimated availability would be around 30 days and it changed and only took two weeks. I could only give it 4 stars because one of the speakers did have two dime sized chips on the back corner of the speaker cabinet when it arrived. it could have happened in transit. I was not about to ship them back over two little spots on the back. a little black shoe polish and you'll never see it.

Yes, yes, yes! That's all I can say after purchasing these speakers. ENERGY IS THE BOMB! I feel like this is by far the best sounding speakers for the money. Sure you could spend $1000s per speaker and probably get a little better sound, but for 99% of people these will do the trick!If you can find these on sale and are in the market for new speakers don't even hesitate to get these CF-70s! Music sounds crisp and you can feel the resonance in your bones. Movies are life-like, you can hear every single word clearly and are engulfed in the sound stage. Games are also badass, Battlefield 4 on PS4 is ridiculous with these turned up!!! You will flinch as the bullets whiz by you ;-)I would recommend the Energy CC-10 with them so the L & R speakers do not over power the center. Definitely will still need a subwoofer for the lows, and probably the CR-10s for the back (although I'm using the Take Classics and they still sound great).Bottom line = Energy does not disappoint and check Amazon for sales as you can potentially save $250 vs Retail price!!!

I am a very passionate audiophile. I have been listening to all kind of speakers and also I built myself some.The Energy CF-70, did not perform as well as I was expected in the lower frequencies range. Otherwise this speakers sound great, but you need a quality sub-woofer to compensate for the lack of good bass. I always prefer a good bass directly from the speakers instead of using a sub, but if you want to use these speakers, a sub is a must, unfortunately.For this reason I gave them a 3 star rating.

What limits my STAR rating is not having a lot of other recent speakers to directly compare these to. They are much better in rendering audio detail than the old Cerwin Vegas they replaced. They look very good. If there's any shortfall, it would be that one might expect speakers this large to provide a little more sound output for the power they consume.

I previewed these at a chain electronics chain. I feel they are the best 'bang for the buck' so to speak. I compared these to some Bowers and Wilkins speakers (I think they were the 600 series? - they were 1500 for the pair). The two brands were very close. I pretty much well felt that I am not an audiophile, don't listen to music too much on my home theater system, just primarily movies/tv etc, so I felt the Klipsch were more suited to that. They are pretty 'bright' speakers, good highs and midtones. I have two subwoofers in my setup. These seem to have good bass on their own. I'd recommend go preview them if you can. I think even for music listening they are excellent and would satisfy most ears. Shipping was free and I think no tax so I saved about $300ish going the amazon route. Ordered a pair - one relatively new and one used - both looked brand new, came in factory boxes.

My husband purchased these for our entertainment room. We love the sound, looks and there everything we expected. Im not an expert on sound or rating. My husband does much research on items before he purchases. He is thankful for the many who rated these speakers and agrees with the quality.
