Hansel and Gretel (Little Critter Series)

Both of my kids loved this book, its pictures and humorous moments. In fact, the day we got it turned out a rainy day (a rare event in Arizona) so we read it 3 times. Then we had to play the story with toys. Thankfully, we had a real toy witch nearby and a doll house. Our playtime story cast was complete. Then we played it in a different version where the witch is good and her house is made of vegetables. In this story she meets the kids with "Hello my sweets". In our version she says "Hello my veggies" :) At bedtime we read the story again, flipping the flaps and enjoying the moment where the witch ends up in the well. "Drats" she says. I like this adaptation instead of the original in which the witch ends up fried in the fire. In the original version of the story also the father makes the kids go away. This has been changed to lost Hensel and Gretel.This story has been made as kid-friendly as possible while managing to stay true to the original. It takes a lot of talent to find the balance between the two. I loved it, the kids loved it. We will be reading it a lot.

The book was in excellent condition. Three year old great grandson thinks he likes scary books. So the trick is to get him "scary" books that will not produce nightmares. He loves opening the flaps, and after the 3rd reading, he reads it to me, all made up, sort of fits the pictures and changes with each "reading".

Came in extremely bent.. pages or book don't lie flat at all

My 2 year old loves this book!! Especially the lift/flaps!

Little critter version is not as scary as the original - I would highly recommend this book. My grandson loves it !
