I'm using this to sit while playing my electric bass. I had four criteria: backrest, swivel, 24" height (so I can keep my feet flat on the floor and reach my pedal board), and no wheels/castors. This is about the only product I found on the whole internet to meet all of these criteria. In addition, it can raise to up to 28", which is closer to traditional "barstool" height. The seat diameter is 17.5", which is (I think) pretty standard, although a little larger than I would like. There isn't very much cushion on the seat, so you may not want to spend 8 hrs/day on it as a work stool. The footrest seems lower than a "typical" barstool; it may be too low for guitars players who put one or both of their feet on it and rely on their knee to keep the instrument positioned (especially with the seat raised to the 28" maximum height). The backrest is perfect for me, but it's really for the *extreme* lower back (tailbone, almost), and only effective if you sit toward the rear of the seat. The assembly is lightweight and seems to be solid construction. Very easy to assemble, but make sure you tighten the screws under the seat with the provided Allen wrench. I've had no problems in that regard, but I could see where others might. If you have problems with your grip (arthritis or other pain), buy some Loctite as another reviewer suggested. Five stars from me, but I can understand 3 or 4 stars from others who have different uses.

GREAT, EASY TO PUT TOGETHER... but...
I got this chair for a few reasons. The base legs are strong and not the cheap breakable round ones, it's adjustable, and has a back rest. Small back rest, but it does work if your sitting all the way on the chair. After a couple hours of sitting on it, the pad felt really hard on my butt, and this sisn't happen with other cushy stools, so I need to put an extra pad on it, which raises me up making the backrest even lower. SO it's not perfect for ME, but it is a great bar stool for those who aren't going to be sitting for very long periods of time. I am considering making my own higher back rest, and bolting it into the existing supports. And eventually may even create a new bottom seat for it that's larger and more comfortable. I really can't find the perfect chair for my needs, so this one will do for now.

Kitchen stool
Closely matches a previous stool I had. Love these for work in the kitchen. Now my wife and I each have one. My new motto - "Never to anything standing up that you can do sitting down." After four years of daily use in the kitchen the seat completely broke off of the bracket it was welded to that held the seat to the base part. Otherwise, has been a great chair. I only weigh 235 lbs, item info specs says its rated for up to 250 lbs.

wish it was about 2 inches lower
good quality. I wasnt aware that the lowest height was just a little too high for my needs. Guess I will have to make do.

Solid, Sturdy Bar Stool
I really like this bar stool for the sturdiness and foot rest. The height adjustment range works well for use in my work shop. I did not give this a full 5 star rating because of the backrest. When assembled, the backrest was too low and leaned too far back. I knew this was going to be a problem from reading other reviews about this chair, so I had in mind how to fix the problem. I bent the backrest frame so it would be straight up and down, and then attached the backrest cushion higher up on the frame using wood screws into new holes. Now the backrest is right where I like it and makes this bar stool very comfortable with very good support for my back. From reading other reviews, the backrest is a problem, and I am surprised that the manufacture has not made changes to their design in response to the comments that people are making. That being said, I really like this chair with the modifications that I have made.
