Great introduction to Vedic Astrology
Ive never read a book on Vedic Astrology before so decided to go for this one which also comes with a free Astrology Software CD to generate your own birth charts. Vedic Astrology Simply Put is beautifully illustrated on every page. There is alot of information here and broken up into bite size chunks so as not to overload you. The differences between Vedic and European astrology are explained really well clearing up alot of confusion for me. Do not think this will be to basic, in fact as it went on it became more and more advanced as the book progresses. Levacy, is clearly very experienced and knowlegable about this vast subject and you will be able to interpret your own and others birth charts very well with this book. The supplied software is helpfull because its accurate and genuine unlike some stuff you see for free online but the downside is you cant print out or save the charts as far as I can see, unless you take a screen shot that is.

Nice book but introductory.
.A very nice little book though very introductory and I recommend it. However, this book DOES NOT teach you how to draw up an astrological chart but assumes you will use some kind of software, which is provided on a free CD (a Lite restricted version, the full costing a couple of hundred quid !) accompanying this book though is provided "as is" so it may or may not work depending on which version of windows you're using ? Not much use for me anyway as I use Apple Macs. Though there is some free Vedic Astrological free software available call "maitreya" for the Mac, Windows and Linux you can download. Hence only 4 stars for I would have preferred to be shown how the conversion from Jyotish to Vedic astrology is performed actually included in the book.

Review of this book
Unfortunately this book wasn't that good how I thought. Book is very illustrated and description about planets and houses is very primitive. If you want learn real Joytish astrology, than this book isn't good, even if you looking for basis. If you looking astrology just for fun - than it's good :)

Vedic Astrology Simply Put
I cant understand why nobody has reviewed this book yet... it is lovely! The physical appearance of the book itself is beautiful, an unusual size and full of wonderful colour and pictures, not to mention the enclosed CD.I haven't long had the book, so have not read through it entirely but it seems very comprehensive and simply put as it states in the title, just right for a curious newby like me.I will definitely be investigating the authors other works when I have finished this.Vedic Astrology Simply Put: An Illustrated Guide to the Astrology of Ancient India

Interesting way of “codifying” the Vedic thinking!
This is a beautiful book with some fantastic pictures and anecdote stories used at many places. The book is very western in style as well as approach of Vedic astrology. Tried to make the subject reader look from contemporary method of understanding - I.e, first definition of what is the aim of the subject, what are the key concepts, fundamental vocabulary, grammar and finally rules and flow chart to follow…for application etc. But, I felt it couldn’t demonstrate utility value because there were no examples and the software CD is just eyewash.😊

Read This Book First!
This book comes highly recommended. In the most positive sense of the word, this book should have been entitled, Vedic Astrology for Dummies. Vedic astrology is a complicated sometimes conflicting discipline. A person can easily get bogged down in minutia. This book, however, presents the bare basics. This book doesn’t dumb down the subject. Instead, it provides the absolute essentials, in clear simple language tailored to the modern general reader.More significantly, it gives a similarly concise and direct explanation of where astrology is placed in the greater Vedic spirituality and cosmology. In the Vedic universe that greater cosmology has direct application to the spiritual seeker. As above, so is it below. Vedic Astrology Simply Stated touches on these issues. The book is full of color drawings, illustrations and diagrams. While some reviews have criticized this aspect of the book as nothing more than a power-point presentation, this is actually its greater strength. A general reader will finish this book with a clear understanding of Vedic astrology.

Beautiful images
This is obviously a work of love. Levacy's other two books (Vedic Sky & Vedic Sun) are more comprehensive and in-depth than this one, and well worth buying (I have copies of both). This book is more generalized but nonetheless valuable, and the color images are simply delightful with many of them astoundingly beautiful. Just a treasure of Vedic lore.
