Viridian Reactor R5 Gen 2 Green Laser Sight and Holster, Laser Class 3R, 5mW Output

Have used Crinsom Trace for years but thought I would try Viridian’s on my new M&P Shield based on price point and instant on feature. Not disappointed. Easy to install, bright, and probably won’t need much adjustment. Be careful not to strip screw heads when installing.Follow up. Am returning this laser. The batteries are difficult to change. The three small screws that must be removed are easily stripped if you are not VERY careful. The magnetic switch does not always switch off, or stay switched off when re-holstering, so the batteries don't last very long. Less than a day in one case. Sorry to return, but not practical for me.

Deducted one star for quirky, poor ECR design.Very bright green laser, easy to install and adjust, accurate. BUT... the ECR Instant-On feature takes some "getting used-to". Don't expect to be able to turn the laser on/off in a defensive situation, as the on/off button is recessed and is NOT the typical push button you find on other laser sights. Turning the laser on takes some doing, and is not something you can do quickly. For ECR Instant-On to work, you MUST use the holster that comes with the G5 ECR Laser, or another holster that supports the ECR Instant-On feature. For Every-Day-Carry (EDC), that means the laser must remain turned on all the time, and shuts off automatically when re-holstered. The ECR Instant-On holster supplied by Viridian works as advertised to turn the laser on and off when unholstered/reholstered, but is pretty much useless as an IWB holster.The plastic belt clip appears to be attached as an afterthought, and allows the gun to rotate freely to a butt-down position inside your pants once attached to your belt. This is totally unacceptable for EDC use, and I can't imagine how this design passed final product review at Viridian. If the plastic belt clip is removed, it works OK as a pocket holster, but that's about it.There are third party suppliers of holsters that fit the LPC2 and support the Viridian ECR Instant-On feature, but they're expensive and take some research to find. I removed the plastic belt clip from the my Viridian ECR holster, and am using it as a pocket holster until I find, or build, a suitable IWB holster that supports ECR Instant-On.

This is amazing in the dark. You can see it upwards to 300 yards away. During the day, you can still see the laser to about 25ft without problems. For such a powerful laser, it draws a lot of power. I bought a Sticky custom LCP2 Viridian R5 holster, but I was having problems due to the ECR magnet in the holster was not sewn in properly, so sometimes the laser would come on and not immediately turn off due to the ECR magnet placement, causing the laser to run for 8 minutes straight in the holster. After about a week in a holster, the batteries were completely drained. Getting a replacement holster after that. The point is, that this laser will drain batteries faster than a red laser since its so powerful, and a small laser forced to use small batteries. You will be replacing the batteries 3x faster than on a full size firearm laser.

The on/off button on this laser cannot be activated by using your finger. It is in a partially depressed state and does not extend beyond the housing of the device. You have to use a retracted ball point pen or similar tool to turn the laser on or off. Not much use in a tactical situation, which is what they advertise the laser for. Awaiting contact from Viridian Customer Support about returning the laser. Heard back from the manufacturer who said the device is designed for use with the holster so it is "not easy to turn off" by hand. The unresponsive button was described as "not atypical." So, in conclusion, this laser is only going to work with the IWB holster and is useless if you want to carry the weapon any other way. I'm returning it for a refund.

Easy installation, easy adjustment using a red barrel laser along with this trigger guard green laser. Set barrel zero @ 20 yards by intersecting this green laser onto the red barrel laser. Went to indoor range, sighting in was a snap due to green laser being almost on the bullet hole in the target! Nice aiming device and deterrent! Twice in my lifetime I have had to pull my sidearm, never had to pull the trigger due to using the laser in the eyes of aggressor, they retreated.

I installed this on my G43 and it fits with no problem and the laser is way brighter than I thought it would be one of the best purchases I've made

The laser was great! Easy to put on. And very bright. Still working out sight issues. But the holster provided was one of the big selling points. That being said holster is not great. You cannot single hand re holster. It’s leather so it will absorb your sweat. Also with no retention, your side arm will fall out if you take a hard enough fall or it’s angled odd for any reason. And good luck trying to find a kydex that fits a Glock 43 and this particular laser. FYI there are makers out there where this is provided.

Came with 2 sets of batteries, the first set was DOA. The 2nd set worked. I ordered a package of spares. The downside of the compact design is having to use the included tool to remove laser to replace batteries. No spare screws were included so better to have a tray to catch the small screws if you drop because you may never find them.
