Alessi Pots&Pans Frying Pan, Stainless Steel, 20 cm (AJM110/20)

After years of owning teflon coated pans and binning them every few months I decided to go back to the days of a good old scrub clean pan. I purchased this pan and haven't been disappointed. It is a very heavy pan which is great, we have successfully cooked steaks, chops to perfection due to evenly balanced heat. Cleaning it isn't an issue, it is quick work with a scourer pad. Price point wise? I think it's worth it - if I add up the price of all the teflon pans I've thrown out, I could have had a full set of these pans by now which would still be going strong. Thumbs up from me, and my husband said it's the best pan we've ever owned, which is a big compliment coming from him, he is the Jamie Oliver of our home kitchen. I'm certain this pan is built to last many years.

This is definitely not non-stick. The first time I used it was to saute potatoes, they stuck badly and the oil burnt badly around the edge of the pan. This brown stain did not get removed by hand or dishwashing. So not really a frying pan and I haven't used it since

This pan makes all 'non-stick' technology look like a good idea gone wrong. The base is very thick so heat distribution good, but even if there is burnt residue in the pan they will soak off with ease. Unlike a 'non-stick' pan it will also last a lifetime.

Absolutely unhappy with the product. Don’t buy it. It says unstick, but it’s does. I cooked steak, duck, eggs and they all got sticked on the surface. I used more oils still same results. Rate 1star because can go bellow.

I only use stainless steel pans these days as 'non stick' pans don't non stick very well in my experience, and the finish comes off eventually, presumably into my food, which can't be good. This pan feels solid and cooks well. I prefer pan handles to be riveted on which this doesn't appear to be. That is my only reservation.

This is an excellent pan if you can cook slowly and a low temperatures. It does stick at higher temperatures, no use for frying eggs, but I bought it because it was healthier than Teflon coated pan and bought a poacher instead of frying my eggs now, is okay for scrambling eggs though! Had to buy the lid separately, a bit too expensive I think hence only 3 stars.

I have been a faithful client of Alessi for years. Usually their products have great design, are well produced and last for a long time. Sadly this pan and the pots they sell on this specific line are just inadequate. Sorry Jasper, you should keep an eye on the finish product too.No matter what you do, no matter how much butter or olive oil you use when you try to fry anything your food will inevitably get stuck on the pan. They are a complete headache to clean too. I ended up writing to Alessi but they refused to take them back saying that is just the result of use. I bought Le Creuset pots and pans instead and I'm beyond happy with their performance.
