Duck Back Dressing I have a full length Kakadu Duster that I’ve been wearing for nearly 30 years. Of late it’s not been protecting me from the rain. After reading more reviews than I can count I settled on the Duck Back Dressing by Outback Trading Company. Hung duster in bathroom with heat on high to get it warm. Starting with the cape (to get an idea of what I was getting myself into) I warmed the Dressing in a double boiler, them melted it with my heat gun (electronics for heat shrink), using a 2” paint brush I applied the Dressing in liquid form to my cape, brushing it in vigorously. Moving on to the Duster, doing the same, paying special attention to the seams. Next I used a cotton cloth to rub down the Duster making sure I had covered all areas with the Dressing. Dressing the Duster took about 2 hours. After I was satisfied that I had coated the entire garment I placed it in a lint free cotton sack and put it in the dryer on high for 15 minutes. I used one 6oz container. I’m very pleased with the results, my Duster looks and smells like brand new! I do wholeheartedly recommend Duck Back Dressing. If you follow thee directions you get perfect results. I was reproofing my jacket this winter and kept the jacket and cream near my wood stove. The cream applied very easily and evenly with a tack sponge. I just hung my jacket near the wood stove and it soaked up and dried quickly. Now my jacket is like new all over again. The cream even smelled good too.

I goofed and put my oilskin jacket in the washing machine. This product completely restored the jacket to like-new condition. Applies easily and thoroughly when warmed in the microwave for about 10 seconds. Let it rest next to the woodstove to penetrate into the fabric.

Arrived on time and works great. My Duster was very dry so it took about 1 1/2 jars to retreat the entire coat, but it is waterproof as a duck now.

The product works great to keep your oil skin items up. It is a little messy and time consuming to put on. That is the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5. I have used this for many years. The jacket remains a bit tacky for a little while just like when new. If you have the ability to let the items sit in the sun during the warm summer, that works well to speed the process up of not having them remain tacky. They should always have an oil type feel, but not have so much on that the oil gets on everything. This is what makes them so warm, water proof and very durable.

Seems to work I used one and a half for a large size jacket.
