Nice book as expected

What I expected. Good value

I enjoy books by JA. He is a great teacher. However, I can only rate the book as 4* because the audio content requires a computer to download successfully. Hal Leonard allows you to stream the audio DIRECTLY to your smartphone.

This book does a great job with technique but not so much helping me navigate the alternate tunings covered. A few fretboard charts would've been helpful for minor pentatonic runs rather than me trying to map each one out based on what I already know in standard tuning. Audio examples and backing tracks are a huge plus. This gave me a start at least.

I initially thought that this was going to be just one more collection of licks and scale shapes but I quickly found that it was much, much more. This book is an easy to understand course in the theory behind soloing that can easily be applied to all forms of guitar playing. Joseph Alexander doesn't just show you what notes to play, he relates the notes shown back to the theory of why they are chosen and why they work well together. Aspiring as well as seasoned lead guitar players will find this book a most useful reference irregardless of their preferred style of play or primary genre. Slide guitar players will find this book one of the best to help them fully understand all of the nuances of playing slide guitar. I definitely recommend this book to all serious guitar players.

OK-so by the time I got thru Chapter 4 of this book - it all became clear. An absolutely fantastic way to find that sound!

Oh c'mon! Ten dollars on yet another book? Yes and I love this book.Like being led into the inner sanctum of slide guitar.The chapter on Single String Exercises alone is worth it.I wish I got to this book ... 20 books ago.

The book was easy to read and taught plenty of great techniques that I'll use for the rest of my days jamming. It's well worth it and was great for a beginner.

Very informative and easy to follow

Although mainly written for open E tuning, there is enough to get a good understanding of slide playing, well laid out and easy to follow, simple to download audio files, useful for a beginner and even a more experienced player could benefit from some of the ideas. Well worth the purchase price.

Ho acquistato la versione Kindle ed effettuato il download degli esercizi dal sito. Davvero semplicissimo. Il libro è strutturato in maniera intelligente e consente di passare da un livello base ad uno avanzato senza quasi accorgertene. Il supporto audio è di ottima qualità e risulta molto utile per chi non ha la capacità di leggere la musica (non tanto le TAB, quanto piuttosto durata/approccio delle note). L'esposizione dei concetti e la spiegazione degli esercizi sono molto chiare. Avere comunque un background sullo strumento e sulla musica rende tutto più semplice.Ovviamente, come per tutte le cose è richiesta molta dedizione: per arrivare a dei buoni risultati occorre impegnarsi costantemente e ritengo che questo manuale sia davvero un ottimo supporto durante lo studio.
