3/28/2019 Update: These laces are still going strong without any sign of issues. The wax stopped coming off after wearing them a few times, but all the benefits are still there. I have been through wet sloppy clay, mounds of cedar sawdust, and limestone dust (sometimes in the same day). I don't touch the laces when I clean my boots because I don't need to, simply spaying them with the hose when I clean my boots seems to clean them up (I wish my boots cleaned that easily). They snagged numerous times while crawling through downed cedar trees and cutting them up. There were a few times where I was sure I was going to need new laces, yet the laces are still top shape. I haven't been compensated in any way to write this review, the laces were not given to me. In an age of throw away stuff, these have been very reliable and much better than I expected.10/12/2017 Original: These laces have held up better than the laces that came with the boots and they stay tied. Are they waxy, yes, that's the point. The little wax that comes off when you tie them doesn't stay on your hands long, and dirt doesn't seem to stick to the laces. I plan to replace the laces in my other boots with these when they need new laces.

Never be without lotion again!
You won't believe how much beeswax these little things can hold! I was able to waterproof both boots with what i scraped off the first time i tied them. It's been about 2 months now and they finally seem to have shed the excess. Coaring aside, they really do seem like good laces, much more durable than my Carhartt set i would recommend them for sure.. and if i ever need a candle in an emergency, at least I'll know I'm covered.

Good quality, but I wish the sizing information was done by number of eyelets instead of height of boots. I ordered the size for my boots and they are VERY long. Long enough that I find myself walking on the ends of the laces, so one of the ends is already frayed, after about 10 days of use. If I had ordered a smaller size than what was recommended, I'd be ok. Good product, not the best ordering info.

Outstanding durability and ties with ease, I'll never buy another brand again. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
These are my new favorite bootlaces, I'll never use another brand again. They are very strong, abrasion resistant and well treated to ensure they lace up easily. Other's haven't liked that they are treated with their beeswax concoction, but I'm guessing they never get their boots dirty. There's a reason why woodland firefighters use these laces, they just don't fail. There's a reason why woodland firefighters/smoke jumpers use these laces, they just don't fail. You might get a little wax/oil on your fingers first few times you tie your boots, but it's to be expected in a product like this. If you are tired of buying junk bootlaces, don't think twice and just order these - you won't be disappointed!

Wore them twice... then threw them away.
Unlike any waxed laces I've ever used. ...and that wasn't a good thing. When I opened the package the first thing that hit me was the strong unpleasant odor. The package states that the laces are "cured in natural oils, resins & bees wax." ...something they used sure stinks! When I saw how highly this product was rated I figured the odor must dissipate ...wrong. When I laced my boots I noticed a lot of excess oil/resin/wax coming out of the over-saturated laces and clumping around the eyelets. Lacing and tying the laces left my hands feeling waxy, and the unpleasant smell was hard to wash off. The laces seem like a good quality tight weave (trying to say something positive). After wearing the laces for a couple 13 hour shifts, I was so so sick of the smell that I threw the laces in the trash. Rather than wasting money, I wish I had returned this item at first whiff!

Made in the USA? Cool!
Longer than I expected for eight eyelet Red Wings. However, just right when I wrap them around the top of the boot before tying; which I like doing anyway. I've been using them for about two weeks and they do a great job of staying tied. Straight from the package they felt more substantial than other brands I've used. Will let you know if they break soon. Don't think they will.

Fantastic work boot laces
I wanted a new set of laces for my Frank's custom Front Range boots. The standard leather laces didn't really fit my needs and I wanted to try something new. I have used Obenauf products for some time, both the oil and LP wax and I know how good of a product they put out. When I came across the laces I was intrigued. I read all of the reviews and it seemed the major complaint was the wax coating. Since these were for work boots and I already used the wax on them I wasn't too concerned about it. I purchased the 72" length for my 10" tall boots. This turned out to be the perfect length as I lace all the way to the top, including the top eye. They had plenty of left over lace to tie and even double knot if you're so inclined. They will possibly too short if you lace up and then wrap around to tie. I will say my set were pretty waxy and the wax did come off too some extent on the eyes and speed hooks. I can see why some people felt like they needed to wash their hands after lacing them up. I thought I'd try them out for a couple of weeks and see how they progressed. After a couple of weeks they no long felt really waxy and I no longer noticed any excess on the eyes and speed hooks. I will say they have never once come untied and I don't double knot them. I have been wearing them just over 6 months and I don't even think about my laces. They stay tied, and do their job. I'll buy them again when these wear out.

THE. BEST. BOOTLACE. EVER.
The slickness of the wax allows the lace to tighten much more easily and tie into a tighter knot, preventing untieing. Ontop of that, the durability is far superior than any b.s. keval nonsense out there. Toss in the fact the lace is a standard thickness (Kevlar is often too thick to fit though the eyelet) and you have a winner lace.

Very durable, high quality laces
I had high expectations from the other reviews, the price, and the description and these have still (so far) exceeded my expectations. The laces are "marinated" in oils and waxes, so they've got a different feel to them, but they hold up very well and seem very durable. The size I ordered was exactly what I got (I measured to make sure), very happy that I went with a higher quality, pricier pair of laces.
