Syncs up to my 4 cameras, makes video editing multicam timelines very easy
I don't know how I made it this long without a remote. I fly paramotors, with 2 cameras about 30 feet away from me while flying. This remote lets me turn on, record, and turn off all my cameras at the same time, saving battery life and making it very easy to sync up the videos. This makes editing much faster! I also get to record more of my flight, while also only recording the parts of the flight that really matter. I have not had any disconnection problems or poor battery performance like others have mentioned, in fact I can't get the battery to show anything less than 3/3 bars after hours of use with only 1 charge. When turning on and waking up the cameras, I have noticed sometimes 1 or 2 take an extra 10 seconds to come on. The screen of the remote shows how many cameras are connected, I just wait till it says 4 and hit the go button. It has never not turned on one of the cameras, just takes a second. Not sure if the gopro brand remote reacts the same, but this one is half price, so not complaining.

Honestly, it looks good quality 🤷♂️
I haven’t set this up yet but I’ve seen a ton of reviews that state there’s no direction so I want to post screenshots of all of the ways to set this up. Ok, I’m back after pairing the two. I paired, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to get these two together. Remember, the remote is a device to connect to, you have to press some buttons. You don’t wave a the remote around like you’re a 5 year old trying to win a match of Mortal Combat by randomly mashing buttons and yelling, at first you don’t because you’ll be intrigued with the operation but the unreliability of the remote will have you using it like you tv remote barely has any battery left pointing, yelling and smashing buttons. Also, your GoPro doesn’t just pop on it takes a little bit of time when the screen on the remote has battery bars. Here’s the final skinny, don’t expect a lighting response to connect, don’t expect to connect the first time even though you set it up dozens of times flawlessly, expect the remote to make your GoPro to take a pic when you expect a video, don’t expect this remote to work more than ten feet away. The Quik app for GoPro is much better and more reliable but if you want unreliable, frustrating and a surprise approach to your capture…the remote is good for you.

After connected to my GoPro 5 it works great
This remote I got for my GoPro Hero 5 Black. Connection direction was a little off in the manual it kept pointing me to the "preference" to reset connection where it actually was located in "connect". I made a quick short video at the end how I set up to my Black Hero 5 and might be same with others if you don't find reset connection in "preference". Once connected it worked flawlessly. The battery life many has mention did not last long about 90 minutes or so which is about amount of time a GoPro battery last. But you would think a remote shouldn't take too much juice so should last longer. The functionality is pretty straight forward, you just press the white mode button to shuffle through the GoPro menu and press the red button to execute the command. Even though GoPro 5 and above has voice command but it only cover so much distance so having a remote helps for distance shots or video recording and also good for under water function which voice command definatley won't work.

LOVE IT
go pro's should come with these things in the box! when using a gopro doing ANYTHING that requires both hands, these remotes are wonderful! just tap the record button and drop the remote and get to work. when done, click it again. i have used mine primarily for motorcycle riding videos and sometimes, it's not easy to find that little button on top of the camera when it's mounted far forward or down low. This remote (mounted on my bars with a little velcro, makes it easy to start/stop recording without doing anything dangerous like reach for the camera button while going through rough or twisty roads. i keep it plugged in all the time when i use it on the motorcycle, but i did notice that a charge doesn't last a long time when i used it for other things.

Proprietary plug for charging is bad idea.
Works fine, but not having USB-C and using proprietary plug for charging is dumb.

Easy of use
Have used my GoPro on a number of Ski trips and always struggled a bit with starting stopping recordings w/ either my iPhone or or w/ the on unit controls. Was never quite sure it was recording of if the recording started/stopped without checking the camera. Had to take off gloves, the start and ending always ended it looking like it was rolled down a hill. Got this remote and a water proof case for a diving trip this last spring. It worked very well both below and above the water. No issues, lot less wasted record time of me turning it on and off. Can't wait to try it on the slopes this winter.

A bit finicky and quirky. Update: Unit forgets the next day and cannot reconnect to the GoPros
Pairing two GoPro 7 Hero Blacks was initially easy once I figured out how to get the remote into pairing mode. Starting and stopping seems to work. Good so far... However, the unit doesn't connect again the day after I set it up. It's like it had amnesia. It is just not reliable. One had to reset connections on the GoPro and repair? Is this GoPro's fault? Do they make it proprietary so you will buy the official company remote? Do not know. Very disappointing. Returning this unfortunately.

Fantastic gopro remote.
This remote is a life saver while snowboarding. It's hard to press the record button on my hero 7 black with gloves hands or while its mounted to my helmet and this triggers it instantly. It took a little bit to connect to the gopro but well worth the help while on the mountain. The battery did not last as long as I thought it would with constant use(maybe 4-5 hours) but it comes with a charger, just bring a portable power bank and you will be fine. You can also use it to flip through the different camera settings without having to use the gopro which is very helpful when I want to go from recording to hyperlapse to photos. Overall a very useful purchase.

Contrairement à certains commentaires, l'appairage s'est fait très facilement. Une fois cette étape faite j'ai pu contrôler ma GOPRO Hero 5 Session très facilement et simplement. La livraison a été très rapide (le lendemain) et était super bien emballé.

I have tried and tried to get this to link up with all 3 of my Gopro Hero 7 Black cameras but I still can't get it work and yes I did charge the remote up before trying it. I should have spent the extra money and bought the proper GoPro remote control instead of the cheap version

I don't know what happened, but it only worked a couple of times, and then before it even lost the charge included, it just refused to work, refused to charge refused to give any indication it had life in it,, Tried all possible means to make it work again, but no luck, had to be trashed, and it was too late for return or maintenance

Great build quality but it never stays paired with my Gopro 4 silver edition. You must pair it every time you want to use it. Ludicrous. Battery will need charging after 1 day of use.
