Pilot AS551 Bully AS-551 Adjustable Tailgate

Loose and clunky at the joints. Does not fold out or store very well. It can be stepped on though which is why I gave it the stars. Looks as attractive hanging from a vehicle as the ridiculous balls that are seen adorning the rear hitch mounts of countless hillbillies and those with tiny natural testes.

it is a great help to get onto truck bed, its a great step , great idea and price is good too. what I dislike is the part that goes into the hitch is a little too short and it hits the bumper when folded t0 side, made it work for me but you need a welder and cutting tool to adjust the angle of it when folded , to keep it away from hitting bumper, might work out of the box for some truck , just didnt on mine

This step is very high quality for the price. It is nice to be able to extend a step out past the tailgate when the tailgate is down. There are not a lot of options for this and this one does a good job. The only downside I have at the moment is that on a modern style truck the tailgate is quite high and the step only comes about half way past the gate on my 2016 F150. (The silver step plate is what I'm talking about). It is enough to allow me to step up, but to step down I need to go down backwards like a ladder and I so far I've found I just hop down. I know if they built it longer the weight limit would have to drop and thus I think this is the best solution. It is very easy to extend just lift and pull and drop. To swing out you need to pull a lock lever underneath. This too is easy. I have not driven too many miles since I put it on. I do wonder if road salt and grim could clog this lever up. Time will tell. So far I'm happy, and its surely worth it at under $50. Does not come with a hitch pin. I recommend a locking one. It looses a star only due to length. Perhaps a longer shaft with one more pin location would allow those of us with tall tailgates to bring it out just few more inches.

This was awesome for my wife to be able to get into the bed of our utv. Until we hit some mud. Then it kinda locked up. It still worked, just took a little longer to deploy.

This fit perfectly on my 2014 Dodge Ram 1500! It is heavy, sturdy and well made. I had been searching some something that attached to the hitch of my truck and would allow me to access the bed of my truck when it was down and would not be so obvious. Many of the other items I saw either attached underneath the bed and not very stealthy or good looking,Pros: This product is small, doesn't take up a lot of room, adjustable to the left or right, and is retractable. What more can you ask for. It even has a built in tightening screw that you can use to make sure you get a tight fit to the hitch so it doesn't rattle!Sticks out far enough that I can I have enough clearance to step up and down with no problem.Doesn't get in the way of dual exhaust!Cons: None that I can think of right now. will update my review if I see any.

Easy to install. Easy to use. Sticks out about 6” when tailgate is open and is easy to use. Folds back compact and out of the way. Love it.

I installed the step in my 2013 Silverado 3500HD, which has a Class 6 ( 2 1/2") receiver. I initially could not insert the hitch pin because the mount body would not insert far enough - a result of having to use my Class 5 receiver adapter to "neck down" the opening to 2". After enlarging the holes in the step with a 3/4" drill bit, I could insert the pin, and the fit was still tight enough for the step not to rattle. I suspect you may not have that problem with a 2" receiver. Other than that, the step works great.

I have had this handy item on my truck for a year. Its still working fine but some rust is starting to appear. However it does work and do the job. I also used a cylinder lock to help avoid theft. It does have a telescopic type design but just barely made it past my tailgate when in position with the tailgate down. It does help alot especially for old guys like me. I would recommend it but either lock it or remove it when not in use lots of theves lurking out there un-fortunetly. Hope this helps you....its my honest opinion.

This is a game changer for getting into the truck bed. You can't beat the price

If they made the surface textured in any way rather than smooth it would be a 5 star. i bought some tape to put on it for traction.

Heavy Duty, extends out and rotates left or right.

Strong and extends past lowered tailgate. Folds away nicely to the right or left. Purchased a pin lock so it wasn’t stolen.
