i LOVE this book!!!!!
I'm 5'10". In the first of February (2013) I weighed 234 lbs and I needed to change so I did something drastic. I quit drinking all soft drinks and all fruit juice cold turkey. My doctor had already warned me about artificial sweeteners.In just over two months I had lost 20 pounds, so I decided to tell my husband what I had been doing. As much as I love him this guy didn't notice when I donated my hair to Locks of Love. The first thing he did was buy a big bag of my favorite candy bar and leave it on the kitchen table.I had hoped he would join me.On June 7, 2013 I had a check-out and official weigh in. I'm down to 198! Do you know how many years it's been since I've weighed 198?But then something even better happened: I FOUND THIS BOOK!!!I said I gave up juice, but I didn't give up fruit because I knew I'd need the fiber. This book said I was right, but it also said I was wrong about a lot of things. Because I live in a small town I may not be able to find everything it recommends, so I've started a shopping list for our next trip to Nashville, or maybe Evansville.And I have a further disadvantage because I hate oatmeal. I love Cream of Wheat, but that doesn't fit the guidelines; it cooks too quickly. You'll have to read the book to understand what that means.I love the idea of mandatory snacks, sample menus; as a matter of fact I can't find anything NOT to like.The weight I shed was based solely on changing my diet. The first twenty pounds were the quickest. I know I'm in for a battle if I want to lose another twenty. And I do.This isn't just a book to me. It's a weapon in my arsenal and I will use it as such. It's already given me more confidence than I had before.I'm taking swimming aerobics now!! I'm in a smaller suit and could be in an even smaller one before the summer's over.Do you think my husband will notice?

I don't know if it was worth the money, but I do like the book.
I like the visual aid concept. I know a decent amount about healthy eating yet I still learned some things. I even took it food shopping with me and used many of her guidelines when purchasing various food items. I have bought some of the bread she recommended and I changed what I was buying based on her guidelines. The visual aid on sushi has totally changed my mind on that food - wow! I don't know if I will EVER order california rolls every again. I also used this book in conjunction with The Shred Diet and used some of her recommendation for foods like the crackers she recommends.

Fantastic book that will change the way you eat and how you look!
This book is a game-changer. I was having problems losing several pounds I had gained over the last couple of years. I was a healthy eater but stayed away from carbs and fruits, focusing on protein and vegetables and getting plenty of exercise... but I couldn't drop a pound! I followed the plan, making many of the recipes, and being sure to get plenty of fiber, but not overdoing the portions. In a couple of months I lost 8 pounds, then 4 more! It is an easy diet to maintain, I have kept the pounds off and have changed my way of eating. I do not feel deprived and I do not crave the things I shouldn't eat (like potato chips). Many of the tips such as adding cinnamon and other spices keep the recipes fun and interesting. One of the great things about the book is that it points out actual brands that you can shop for in the grocery store. This means you don't have to read the backs of all the packages in search of the "right" ingredients while you're shopping -- Rachel Beller does all that for you. Some of the things you are allowed to eat are treats in their own right: dark chocolate, blueberries, and those delicious Doctor Kracker and Mary's Gone crackers. This eating plan and the recipes have helped me change my eating "lifestyle" without feeling deprived or going hungry all the time. It is a wonderful book that helps you take off the pounds!

Finally, a plan that actually works!
Thanks to Rachel Beller, I whom I have had the good fortune to be seeing since September 2012, I have lost 14 pounds and am still counting! Now her long awaited book is finally out, and her wisdom will be available to everyone.Her plan takes the guesswork out of eating right. She makes it so easy by identifying the exact products to buy and where to buy them – usually from stores I already know and love.What I love the most about this book is that Rachel Beller sets the parameters for this new way of eating, and then I am free to choose and get creative within that framework. There are so many combinations and so many recipes I never end up eating the same thing twice. Eating this way is completely satisfying – I never feel hungry - and that means I’m not reaching for snacks between meals. It is not your typical ‘diet’ book – it is an action plan in the battle against the harmful effects of fat and inflammation in the body. A battle I choose each day to WIN.I, much like Sheryl Crow writes in her forward, am eating defensively – the weight loss is just an awesome bonus! I absolutly love this book and I turned all my friends and anyone who comments on my weight loss onto it. I bought it to simply eat better as I am now in my forties and I noticed that my metabolism started to slow down a bit. I thought that if I happened to lose the little "doughnut" around my belly button tha crept up in the last two years and lost 3 or 4 pounds, that would be a great bonus. I lost 12 pounds very easily! The food tastes good and what I like the most Is that you are not hungry and you don't feel as if you are depriving yourself, because this is not a diet. It is all about making better choices for your health and your waistline, while keeping you satisfied and happy!

Some good recipes and information, but the information seems a lot like everyone else has in their books, maybe I'm just not ready for the commitment!

Life Changing! Amazing Results!
My husband has struggled with weight loss for many years and has needed to lose over 100 pounds. He has tried dozens of different diet books, and has always ultimately failed as the plans were too restrictive, too extreme, and not sustainable in the long term, not to mention impossible for the whole family to eat together. Rachel's book has truly been a life changer. My husband has lost over 80 pounds following the advice in Rachel Beller's book. My husband was diabetic and the medication that he was taking was no longer effective, and he was told that he would need insulin. He had had high blood pressure and out of control cholesterol despite prescription medications. Today, he is off all of prescription medications and has a clean bill of health. He gave the book to his sister, who has now lost over 70 pounds, and his mother who is in her seventies and she has lost 30 pounds that she has struggled to lose for over a decade. Even though, I do not struggle with my weight, it has transformed how I eat and I fell so much better. I can not recommend this book more strongly. It contains all the advice and guidance that make it easy to eat healthier, and be healthier from the day you start reading. Thank you Rachel! Healthy eating
This book gives excellent information about how to understand what is in food and how to prepare it - excellent recipes and diagrams are presented.
