One of the greatest photographers of all time do buy this you won't be dissappointed
He had a unique ability to capture the right moment and framing. He used to swath his Leika id black tape so he could move unnoticed to capture wonderful candid shots of people going about their lives. But never intrusive.

Just magnificent!
Cartier Bresson and Leica, simply the greatest combination since oysters and champagne. No, even better. "Europeans" is a wonderful collection of his greatest work. His technique, his appreciation of light and shadow, his instinctive eye for "le moment critique" are illustrated once again to perfection. How I wish...well, one can dream, n'est-pas?

Good photos but.....
The pictures in this book are really good, but the writing style of the author is the most hilarious, frustrating, pretentious drivel i have ever read in my life. And on this basis I do not really recommend the book. If you are just interested in looking at the images, then fine, go ahead. But the reading experience is incredibly frustrating. It could have explained things a lot simpler, but instead the writing is incredibly pompous and pseudo -poetic, where you need to constantly pull out a dictionary every other sentence there by spoiling the flow of reading. I guess the author needs to show us how intelligent it is. I personally recommend that you either buy a book where you can understand the author, or rip out the pretention from this book and keep the great photos within.

The Thames and Hudson book is a beautifully produced book of the work of this accomplished photographer.

Europeans by Henry Cartier Bresson
No need to discuss the value of HCB photos. He is undoubtedly a Master. However, the enjoyment of his photos by the reader is much reduced by the poor printing quality and the general "cheap" look of this book. I would not buy this book again and would not recommend it to anybody.
