This was a perfect fit for the first generation Nexus 7 for 2012
This was a perfect fit for the first generation Nexus 7 for 2012.This port does fit. Some reviews for the replacement USB charging ports indicated that the connection did not fit properly. This part is labeled ASUS, and it does appear to match the original dimensions. The USB connection might be a tiny bit shorter than the original, but all of my micro-USB connectors fit securely. This is not an exact replacement for the original, but that is a good thing. The original port used a seam to complete the port, and that seam had started to separate on my Nexus creating a loose connection. This USB fitting is a single piece. The headphone jack also works well. This was another area of complaint from some reviewers for other parts. This jack does perform well. One note: I tested the headphone jack once more as I am writing this review. I noticed if the Nexus is plugged in and charging the headphone jack has a lot of static. If USB charging is not in progress the headphone connection sounds clean. After completing the replacement the power issues I had been having with my Nexus 7 were resolved. During normal charging the Battery Monitor Widget reports > 350mA / 8%/h charging rates. When the Nexus is discharged it will normally charge at >600mA 15%/h. That's a huge performance improvement over the previous rates. Also the Nexus is now able to keep up with the power consumption when used as a GPS via a 12v car charger.

Slight Gap!
I bought my nexus 7 2012 the moment it was ready for purchase and I haven't had problems with the port since a few weeks ago. Installation of this replacement went smoothly and it charges reliably. However the micro USB input design is slightly different form the original. Because of the flaw there is a lot of play room actually too much. I'll be replacing this very soon. Unfortunately. As you can clearly see in the picture the product design is not able to accommodate for the height of the bezel frame. Anything can slip down inside and make a new home without paying rent! When in doubt its best to just get the cheap QI Wireless Charger Charging Pad for the Google Nexus 7. By the time you have finished reading this review I would have already bought two of these replacement Jacks for the price of

asus nexus 7 first gen
Piece worked great. asus nexus 7 tablet stopped charging because the usb part was broken. Took me 10-15 mins to replace and the problem was fixed. Again i took it to a couple repair places and they wanted 60 bucks to repair and fix it. I paid 7 dollars and it was as good as new.

Works ok, but only with some of my cables
The repair on the Nexus 7 (2012) went fine with this piece. Afterwards I could charge and sync using a USB as well as hear through the headphone jack again (even when charging). The only issue, and it's a biggie, is that not all cables will work to charge the tablet using this port. Almost every cable I owned was too loose or the plug was not long enough to even make contact. 2 stars off for this, it's that bad. I'd say that over 70% of the USB cables I own would not work at all or required that I not even move the tablet to make sure they didn't come loose and lose contact.I did find these cables ( USB to Micro USB Cable Pack of 3 (3X 3.3ft) Turbo Fast, Nylon-Jacketed & Abuse-Friendly for Samsung, Nexus, LG, Motorola, Android Smartphone & More (Micro Charging Cable) - Equilibrium Series ) on Amazon and they are some of the few cables that connect and stay put in the plug. At least now I have 3 cables that stay connected and charge the Nexus.I'm not sure if any other replacement parts would work better, it seems from the comments like they all had this issue. At least with the right cables I can charge the Nexus again.I take the task of reviewing very seriously and would not risk my integrity by giving a misleading review. If this review was helpful to you, please take a second to press the “Yes” button below.

Don't buy cheap, shoddy parts from this seller.
The other reviews are correct. This thing is certainly not made by Asus.It looks to be missing a piece that was on my OEM part. The usb charging port only worked for 1 day..The headphone jack stopped working after 2 days..I opened the tablet again to see if it disconnected.. and found that not only had this part disconnected, but the connector had literally broken off.Purchasing this tiny product cost me almost 15$, and it is so horribly manufactured that it fell apart. I won't waste time returning the product to China or wherever. Conclusion: Don't buy cheap, shoddy parts from this seller.

Fixes most of the notorious Nexus 7 charging issues
The design of the charging port is flimsy, but I can't hold that against this product because it's an exact replacement of the original. This is the second time I've installed a charging port on my son's tablet, and both times, installation was very easy (20 minutes start to stop). A few things to keep in mind: Use a electronics spudger to open the case, or a dull butter knife should work nicely--start at the part of the case near the charging port. Also, be very careful replacing the screws on the speaker, which you'll need to remove. A little too much torque, and you'll crack the plastic in the speaker frame around the screw holes (which I did). It's not a big deal if you do because there are multiple screw holes, but it's best not to. Finally, use a magnifying glass or a loupe to see how to flip up the ribbon cable lock properly. Keep those in mind, and you shouldn't have any problems.

Worked Like A Charm! Nexus Is Back To Working Like It Did With The Original Part!
Item has worked flawlessly going on two months now!beats the other USB Charging port I bought off of here from another vendor, which only lasted two weeks and caused my Nexus to randomly make loud buzzing sounds! the original USB charging port on my Nexus went out and quit charging the device, after installing this piece the Nexus is back to working like new and things have been transparent compared to when the original piece was in there!Install is quick and easy! only takes minutes to swap out! I followed a detailed install video which is easy to find on YouTube.Be sure to disconnect the battery on the Nexus before installing! and don't be too rough with the cable ribbons!
