Fantastic tone, great smooth feel
Got an email asking me to review these. I would normally just delete the email, but I realized in this case it's worth a review. I have literally told multiple people excitedly about how much I like these strings. And I'm not the type of bass player who goes around talking about gear, at all. I bought these because I wanted to test out a new bass and I didn't like the strings it had. These tape wounds ended up ruining the test because I think I would love any bass that had these. What I used them for: a Fender Jazz Bass.Sound: I don't think a bass should sound like a guitar. It needs some thump. These sound like hip hop bass to me: smooth and deep, slow attack, thumpy but with lots of sustain. I play jazz mostly but I love that kind of sound - it's as close to a stand-up bass sound as you would want to get on an electric bass.Feel: this is the thing. These are like butter. I love the tape wound feel. I have another pair of tape wounds from another brand on a different bass and those feel great too - so I guess these probably feel similar to most tape wounds. If you haven't tried any tape wounds though, I highly recommend you try them out.Look: the black looks cool.

Beautiful sound, well balanced.
Put these on my old bass to replace the original set. Well worth the money! Comfortable to play and beautifully balanced sound across all 4 strings, up and down the fretboard

Great fretless sound, smooth and easy on the fingers.
I had been using flatwound strings on my ‘78 Precision fretless for years but had grown frustrated with what I’ll call their “dull” sound: compared to the round-wounds on my fretted P-bass they had no spark. I heard about tape-wound strings and had read they could bring some brightness without chewing up my fingerboard so decided to try these. And I love them, they are super smooth under the fingers but have a brighter sound than my flats, and wow are they easy to play. And they sound great too, with good pick-ups they can punch right through the mix. They seem very well-made and durable, plus the black strings on my maple fingerboard give things some visual pop. I am converted now, only LaBella tape-wounds going forward. Recommended!

Excellent alternative to flatwounds
I played bass in high school, and back then I was too poor to afford new strings, so I played the same set of round-wound strings on my bass as when I got it. An adult friend who taught me and who I used to jam with had a set of flats on his bass and I swore that one day I'd get flats. Fast forward 25 years and I finally got another bass. I started searching around for reviews on flatwounds, and saw a video comparing flats, half-rounds (which I use on my Telecaster) and nylon tape wounds. My mind was very quickly made up. Even with youtube video/audio compression, I could hear that the tapewounds had the smooth sound of the flatwounds, but with a little more punch and thickness that I really like. So I ordered these and I have not at all been disappointed. They play so smooth--no string noise at all. On the rare occasion when they rattle against the frets, it's not the zzzziiiiingg of flats or rounds, but almost more like a soft clatter, which I don't hear in my amp/headphones/recording. They have that full, round tone that I like from so many of the classic rock and outlaw country songs I grew up with, but there is a punch to them that I really like. I have a feeling these will be my go-to strings for a long time to come.

By Far, The Best Bass Flatwounds.
I put this set on my Fender Precision Bass and it was just what I needed for that deep sound you usually hear on 1960s songs like Motown. Much easier on the fingers and no squeek noise when playing notes like you get with roundwounds. Yes, more expensive but well worth it for me.

Best flat wounds.
My friend had these on his bass and they had a nice full sound. I got a set for my p bass and wow. My bass had that great p bass sound. I will get a set for my jazz bass and sg bass.

Rotosound 77's ain't got nothing on these
Smooth, deep, responsive and exactly what you wanted from the 77's. No dead strings and they feel a gazillion percent what bass strings are imagined to feel like: thick and smooth to the touch.Dont take the gamble of the 77's they're rough and unpleasant to the touch just get ya self some deep talkin' flats.

Great strings
So after getting into flats after years as a round wound guy, I'm really enjoying this experience. It's probably not a fair fight, but I have TI's (Thomastik Infeld) on my P bass, so wanted to try something along the lines of an old school thump type of string on my Jazz. While these are very good - they aren't quiet as perfect as the TI Jazz Flats. The TI's have more mid range, and are very even - these are more V shaped, with a drop in the mids, but very present lows and some decent treble extention. Great strings - just need a bit more mid.

Excellent sound and smooth feel
The playability of these strings is ultra smooth and effortless. The sound is very well balanced from all strings (4). Moving throughout the fretboard is a lot of fun with these, as they are that smooth. This is a high quality string. Installed on an Aerodyne P Bass.

Nice, clean, fat sound.
These strings are wonderful. I have them on a Fender Precision that's both passive and active. I can get that nice Precision punch with these. I used to use the Fender tapewound strings, but they are getting very expensive. These are nice. Keep in mind, if you are switching from conventional round wounds, or something like that, you will have to adjust your bass neck, because the string tension of these is not as great as nickel or steel. Patience, grasshopper.

Bisogna fare attenzione all'ottavatura.
