Great hot and sour soup!
I bought this because an authentic recipe for hot and sour soup called for it. It really does taste like great restaurant-style soup! I haven’t yet tried it out in other dishes, but if you love a good hot and sour soup, this chili paste is indispensable!

Flavorful heat
I’ve recently used this to make ramen a couple times. I purchased another brand from a local Asian store and used this. This item was way more flavorful. It didn’t have nearly as much heat as expected, but that’s not a bad thing. It’s harder to add layers of flavor vs pure heat.

Good but with lots of skins and hard chunks
Definitely more hard chunks and skins than brands used in the past. I resorted to pushing i through a sieve.

Really Good Flavour
Loved the taste of this! It really shines when the flavour is the main star of a dish. I used it in steam pork ribs where the lighter ingredients were able to support the taste of this quality. However I would just use a cheaper brand for mapo tofu, as the increase in quality isn't really reflected in the cost.

High quality, great flavor!
This makes the most amazing mapo tofu. High quality ingredients make a huge difference in flavor! Obviously it’s more expensive than other brands but it’s worth the money. I’m back to buy it again because I just realized I have only a couple of tablespoons left. Thank goodness for Prime 2 day delivery!

Absolutely awful!
What I expected was a paste, what I received was mess of whole beans and chunks of hot pepper skin in some kind of binder. It looked terrible and tasted worse. The packaging said that the product was the “soul of Szechuan cooking.” This “soul” is definitely destined for hell. $2/ounce is an absurd price.

Very salty, good but salty.
This is a flavorful paste that brings good bean taste and spicy heat. For me, unfortunately, the paste was so salty that it was hard to enjoy. I think I'd have to learn how to use it with other ingredients to produce a palatable meal.
