Nice and tough.
Just planted dozens of spring bulbs in a mixture of locations including some very compacted ground which involved standing on the planter and wiggling it for 30 seconds to get it to sink in - absolutely no problems it stood up to everything. Because it made the job easy I planted quite a lot more than I had initially planed, a great and tough tool.

Robust tool
A heavy and well made tool, but turned out to be difficult to use in the situation I bought it for. I wanted to use it to plant daffodils in a grassed area, but found that the edge of the tool was too thick and blunt to cut through the grass. After jumping up and down on it over and over again just to get it a couple of centimetres into the ground I gave up and used a trowel. However, it does work well for planting tulip bulbs in a border.

So far, so good.
Appears to be well made and of decent quality, saves the back while planting bulbs and whips. Only gripe being the soil does tend to get stuck, so end up having to carry a rod to push the soil out and back into the hole.

You get what you pay for
Not cheap, easy to use and does the job because it is very sturdy and solid - well worth it.

Difficult to use on hard clay soil.
I bought this to plant bulbs in mid October in my London clay garden as it has been a dry Autumn. I thought it would be heavy enough and robust enough to do the job. A normal bulb planter with a short handle was useless so something more like a spade where I could put my weight -12.5 stone - on it seemed likely to succeed. However on grass it failed completely. On cleared soil not dug this year with my weight on it and turning it in a circular direction to aid cutting it went in a couple of inches. It was fine on well dug soil but that is when I did not need it. On the whole a waste of money. Maybe OK after a few days or a week of rain???

useless
It has no cutting edge and it is unworkable.

Quality
Bought on a whim, but found this planter sturdy was able to use it to not only plant bulbs but was ideal for planting bedding plants in the borders too.

No Silver Lining Here
Bought this in Feb 2021 for summer bulb planting which I procrastinated over until autumn when I started using it for spring bulbs. Looks nice, and feels weighty and well made on first use. Probably made about 100-120 holes for a mass bulb planting session and during the last couple of dozen stomps the head started to buckle, then eventually it snapped off. I’m not obese (unless you get all technical) as I’m 5’10 and 14 stone so it wasn’t the result of my bulbus frame. Pretty hacked off and now looking at a Kent and Stowe.Probably ok for planting in borders where the soil is less compact but wouldn’t recommend for planting direct into lawn.
