I am a huge fan of retractable cables devices like this.It works with all my Apple devices (Nano gen.6; iPad gen.2; iPhone 4s)The central device does have a nice amount of torque so that the cables retract or extend & lock as needed.I previously bought one from Macally that was twice as expensive.It is also twice as nice. Why?1. The sync head (not the USB end), often sticks inside a device. This can damage the device, loosening and weakening the sync port.2. The cables don't always snap back or hold in place -- thus missing the whole point of these devices.3. Last and least: it is not as attractive as the Macally unit, which blends in with the Apple aesthetic beautifully.In sum: For the price, I would not be averse to recommending this unit to others; and if I needed a lot of these, I'd consider purchasing more of them.

The iPhone plug was bigger than the photo appeared. If your iPod/iPhone has a case, it will likely not fit well. I had to file the edge of the iPhone plug in order to fit with my Speck iPhone case. This was not the cheapest retractable iPhone charge and sync cable and I thought this one would have a nice compact plug. The cable seems sturdy enough, but the iPhone plug is too big.

I bought a really cheap one a couple of months ago and it turned out to be crap. This model is much higher quality and I look forward to using it for a long time.

Loved this unit at first. After 1 month of using it, the plastic screw that held the two sides together broken and the spring came flying out. Cheaply made. Works great if you plan on not using it as a retractable unit!

I have had expensive retractable iPhone charge cables and I have had inexpensive ones. I decided recently to give ZipLinq another try. I had bought a Zip Linq kit in an airport when I had forgot a cable. It was OK but nothing special. The two I bought from Amazon were LESS than nothing special. They quit locking in place within a month. That is with minimal use and being stored in a padded case in my padded laptop bag.This truly deserves a 0 star review.IF you are thinking of buying one just go get a cheap one. It will work as well and cost a lot less.

Bought this for use when on the road. Charges and sync my iPad and my iPhone from my computer or the little power block. Works great.

Retractable cables are ideal in the car to charge your phone and the retract it when not in use. However, after easily going through 6 or more retractable cables, all of them eventually die, including this one. Now after finding a quality non-retractable that consistently puts out the 2A of current that the charging plug is rated for, I find I will never buy a retractable again. The larger gauge of wire required to deliver such great charging current is not possible with a tight retractable cable. Good by forever retractable cables.

When the product arrived, fine print on the product packaging says this is not compatible with iPhone 3G. The website does not mention this. Since I bought it for an iPhone 3G, it's going back.
