Brings new life to an x58 system stuck on SATA II
I was in the market for more SSD storage, but did not care for the SATA II bottleneck due to being on an older x58 system. I saw some of the high performance PCIE SSDs/M.2 adapters, but the price/GB was a little high. This card is a great option as the cost/GB depends on what capacity SSDs you choose to install on it, and booting off of this drive is supported on older systems whereas on PCIE SSDs booting on an x58 is usually not supported, or problematic.I installed this thing with 2x Samsung 850 EVOs 250GB (which in of themselves are very good quality, high performance SSDs) and my system recognized it without issue. I setup a software RAID 0 in Windows 10 using Disk Management (initialize your drives, create new striped array) and was on my way. It's important to do it this way and not use the Storage Spaces feature if you want RAID 0 because that joins the drives together, but doesn't stripe them for performance.Anyway, once it was done setting up I ran some benchmarks and was very impressed. 775/761MB/s in CrystalDiskMark and 765/793MB/s in ATTO Disk Benchmark. So very very close to the advertised 800MB/s. In a lot of other reviews people are not getting anywhere close to these speeds. I really think this is due to the quality and performance of the individual SSDs being used. The 800MB/s maximum is due to this card using PCIE 2.0 x2. PCIE 2.0 bandwidth is 400MB/s per lane, so 2 lanes gives us the theoretical maximum of 800.Solid product. It allows you to overcome a significant limitation on older systems, and delivers on advertised performance.Update: I have it running in Hardware RAID 0. Performance is a hair better. I can verify that it is bootable, and TRIM does work (verified by TRIMCheck)

SOUNDED TO GOOD TO BE TRUE
I run a MacPro 4,1 and was looking to update my present DATA volume (2 WD BLACK 500GB IN RAID0) with SSD'S using SATA III. There were a million ways of doing that, one of them wasusing the Apricorn Velocity Solo x2 card utilizing the second SATA plug for the second SSD...no matter where I placed the SSD, I would have to go through hoops to run cableseither power or SATA....well I stumbled on to this Apricorn Velocity Dual SSD card, and at first thought was skeptical...sounds too good to be true, setting up my SSD RAID0WITHOUT any cables...nahhh, no way. Did some homework and couldn't find any "yeah BUT'S" so went ahead and got it. Took a grand total of 10 minutes to put in my newSamsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD'S, and install the Apricorn card into my PCIx slot.....most of that time was screwing in the SSD mounting screws (included with the card)! I litoff my computer, went to Disk Utilities, and bam, there they were. I setup and executed the RAID0 configuration...all without a hitch...5 minutes later I have a 1TB empty volumeto clone on to from my old DATA volume....but before doing that I ran a test using BlackMagic Speed tester...YIKES!! I ran it several times and averaged 560 write/ 780 read.Needless to say the cloning of data didn't take very long at all. The real world results are astounding, and all without any glitches or wavering, or cables. For $139 this card is a bargain, one that defies the saying that "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is"...IN THIS CASE THE OPPOSITE IS TRUE...I'm getting another one to run 2 850 EVO'S 120gb inRAID 0 for my operatiing/app volume....don't worry have a 3 seperate external disk redundancy backup/clone setup to recover from any mishaps. Get this card!!

Works fine. Beware of non-standard card height!
The card is functional, and works well with Linux. Drives are detected and bootable, and have had no issues so far with the performance or reliability(though I have only had the card in for a few days).I am using this in a server to free up hard drive bays for my hard drive storage array. It does the job.Now for the bad (why is this a three star review?). This card was not clearly not designed for server use. I figured it couldn't be larger than a full-height full length card, but I was wrong. The height of the card sticks out much farther than the full-height bracket. This causes the card to not fit in my server chassis, because of the odd form factor. Luckily, I don't have any other expansion cards in the machine, so I was able to remove the rear bracket(maybe don't try this at home!) and allow the card to angle slightly so it would fit in the case. I'm not happy about this, but this is the best solution I have at the moment, and luckily the card is snug up against the case so it shouldn't be able to wiggle loose. The unfortunate thing about the design of this card is that it is significantly shorter length-wise than a full-length card. So if the SSDs were rotated 90 degrees, so the card would be longer, but the card would fit just fine in my spacious full-length slot. This may not work for desktop systems who typically have more room in the height of the card, but less in the length. So I'm bummed. I was hoping this would be a home run, but it was not for me. If I knew this would not fit in a standard full-height full-length card slot, I would have gone for two of the solo cards, which would fit perfectly in my system with plenty of room to spare. So if your case cannot accommodate the additional height of the card, look for another solution.

Beware: Apricorn doesn't honor their rebates.
Bought the product from Amazon. Downloaded the rebate from Amazon. Sent in the UPC code, and yet they claim the rebate isnt for the product. It changes the value proposition significantly. And because I sent in the UPC I couldnt return it.Even the performance wasnt quite what was advertised. Samsung 850 EVO was getting 460MB/s write, 480MB/s read. Its better than using the SATA2 interface in my Mac Pro, but without the rebate I'm not sure the cost justifies the increase in performance. I could have went with a different combo for less. One positive is in a Mac you can boot off it and use the boot chooser on startup. Without the rebate fiasco I'd probably give it a 4, but I honestly feel as if I was cheated.

Excellent product, easy to install and operate.Only problem with the entire operation was not related to this product.

Great product, works exactly as advertised. No hiccups.
I was initially skeptical of this because the sonnet tempo ssd pro failed to boot let along work. Even after spending hours on end for many days troubleshooting with sonnet. RMA was another dreadful experience. But this product worked flawlessly and works as advertised. For those wondering, this also supports trim when set in raid as advertised. I am very happy with this product. Brough back like into my sata 2 pc with new ssds.
