Perfect security whistle
I love these whistles and have purchased several of them. I keep them on all of my sets of car keys and backpacks in case of emergency. I would totally recommend this whistle.

Good piece of survival gear
I've been carrying a flat pea-less whistle for a few years. Never was really satisfied with it's tone or volume even though it is Coast Guard approved. I bought this as a back-up but I like the tone and volume much better than the other one. This has been promoted to primary whistle.

EXTREMELY LOUD!!!
At 115 piercing decibels it's loud as heck. it's why lifeguards like them. Definitely gets attention. I have one for wilderness canoeing and on my car keys for emergencies (and to find my keys quickly when I hang them on the key rack at Gold's). There's no "pea" in the whistle, to diminish the effect. Highly recommend it.

Whistle.
It's a whistle. It's supposed to be good. It was affordable. I hope I'll never have to use it, but now at least I know I have the option. Which is exactly why you need one, too.

Loud, but you have to blow really hard
If you blow moderately hard or softly, you are going to be disappointed with the amount of sound this puts out. However, if you blow as hard as you can, you will find a marked increase in the volume and your ears will be ringing for a little while afterwards. Great, loud emergency whistle when used properly.

Back in my days as a lifeguard, these are the only whistles I used. Once one masters the technique, these whistles are incredibly effective. The should the emit can be heard at surprising distances and carries well even in crowded, noisy areas. Durable, easy to clean (soak in soapy water or throw it in the dish washer), and comes in a variety of colors.
